Steering wheel sometimes squeaks when telescoping
Does anyone else have a problem with their steering wheel making a squeaking noise as it telescopes into position when starting the car? Mine has started doing this periodically, usually only after the car is parked in the hot sun all day.

Thanks. If you ever bring this in to be fixed under warranty, I'd be curious to know what the dealer does to repair it. (my car is out of warranty now )
Cars with the sport or luxury packages have memory seats and steering. When you turn off the car, the steering wheel raises and telescopes away from you, making it easier to get out. When you start the car, it lowers and telescopes back to the position you had set. (It can even remember different steering wheel position preferences for each driver, and choose based on which key fob is present)
On my car, the mechanism is starting to make noise when the interior of the car is extremely hot due to being parked in the sun.
You lost me...

A bit. Not because the noise is that annoying, but rather a concern that the lubrication in the telescoping mechanism might be drying up, and could eventually lead to the motor failing.

Necro-bumping a nearly eight year old thread of mine. I never did address this problem, and now that it is warm and starting to happen again, I'm hoping that someone here has experienced it too and can share their fix.
