I think that's a special built race car, not the updated 09.

So does the actual page you are linking to.

" The new prototype is actually an IS-based race car and not the suspected facelifted model."

I just picked up this ride like 6 months ago..
Not looking forward for it 2 become an "old car" or out of style..
The IS350 is great, no regrets.. Needs a bit more speed i think.haha

Holy cow this thread is funny....

Guys.. Please... Look at the what happened to the 2008 GS Model... compared to 2006 & 2007..

That should give you ALL a general idea..
I mean come on Lexus isn't trying to keep this Top Secrect.. All the hints are there already...

Of course this is just my opinion..... LoL..

Soon, we'll be seeing the 2009 IS250/350. Just wondering if Lexus will introduce their new model in 2010 or 2011?! I currently own a BMW 330i and would like to own a Lexus in the future but don't really like the current one because of it's crammed interior (no offense to anyone) and some blind-spots. I also hear that the IS250 has the image of being a chic-car? (No offense again, I don't mean it, just heard these rumors!!) I like the handling of IS250/350 though, have test-driven it couple of times. The steering is a little bit loose/disconnected, but for some reason I still like it a lot (even if it's a little disconnected). I'm kind of different and like to appreciate the car as it is. I think Lexus will have a really good third generation, with probably good road feel, improved visibility and interior dimensions and an even more aggressive exterior and possibly fix the common inferior dash design (rattles etc.). I really like their styling and I'm impressed with the luxury gadgets inside. If they're coming out with a new design in another 1-2 years, then I guess I'm gonna wait for the model after the 3rd generation's first year's release (so that all the bugs have been worked out etc..) and trade-in my German beast with the Lexus. Any ideas/suggestions when will the third generation be coming out? What do you guys recommend? Is this car really worth the wait? Any regrets of buying the IS250/350 etc.. Anything is welcome!

Sorry for asking too many questions! LOL.. Thanks in advance everyone, I appreciate your feedback!

Wait, let me get this straight. You want a Lexus yet you have nothing good to say in this post. Pretty much everything in this post is a cutdown of the current Lexus model. So tell me again, what drives you to want to trade your "beast" for a Lexus. Why did you even post this? I don't believe you have ever driven one, not sure though...that is just a rumor I heard.

This thread is interesting... I am gonna purchase the IS350 in the coming few days... now after reading the posts here, I'm not sure if I should purchase it now or wait a couple of years, do you think I should wait or make the purchase? After speaking to the dealer near by on phone, he said there is a new design due, and will show up in late 2010 as a 2011 model... I'm really confused now. I have G35 as of now and was planning to trade in.

I think if you were to purchase one now, you will more then likely be happy. But like probably the majority of us, you will always want the latest and greatest. You just have to decide when you are ready to jump in. If they didn't keep improving our cars, we wouldn't be driving the great cars we are today, no matter what the make or model.

I'm pretty sure the current IS will have a life of at least 5-6 years... In other words, I don't expect a new IS to be available until at LEAST the 2011 model year. Possibly 2012 or later.

So is lexus replacing the IS350 with a the is460 and the is250 being replaced by the is350 or better yet an is350 awd? I'm guessing new front and rear ends with side mirror turn signals and more wood for the interior. how about a true manual tranny for the 350? Wishful thinking.

First year models are always risky to buy IMO. It's always better to wait for couple of years and make your purchase (if you can).. The new IS is scheduled to be out in 2010 as a 2011 model.. I checked this up and got the same response from 3 different dealers.. I've been doing some research on this as I'm about to make a purchase... at the same time, it also makes sense, because the coupe/convertible will be coming out in 2 years as well. The first gen was from 2001-2005, i.e. 5 years in US, but overall it ran from 1998-2005.. the current gen's third year is almost over, with the 2009 model on it's way in Fall.. This however almost makes us believe that we might see a re-design in the next 2 years.. but if you analyze further, that this car is out to compete against the BMW and you know that the BMW is redesigned every 7-8 years. The current BMW generation was released in 2005, the same time Lexus IS came out. The previous generation BMW ran from 1998-2005, the same number of years the first gen IS was there... I think the current BMW will run till 2012 or so, therefore based on this analysis/theory the next-gen IS should be out in 2012 as well since they're trying to match up with the 3 series.

Default 3rd Gen IS speculation thread

I now this has been discussed before, but is there a firm date for when the new IS will be in showrooms?

Don't quote me on this, but from the rumors and gossip and my own opinion a 3IS is probably due out in late 2010 as a 2011 model. Typically cars are redesigned every 3 to 4 years per model. Again its speculation though

Last I heard we were still on a 6 year cycle, which means the new generation would be in 2012, and would be available in showrooms the fall of 2011.
