Default Poor car got scuffed up

So here's the story. I work at a pharmacy. Unfortunately, in addition to being a very busy store (full parking lot), it is also in a less than favorable neighborhood with crazy drivers (edited for 'political correctness')
without further adieu, I present to you, my latest incident

Okay, now my question. How much should I expect to pay to have it repainted? There is slight damage on the side passenger fender as well, though less noticeable.
I would have to have the entire side fender repainted, simply because most shops can never paint things correctly and black becomes this fuzzy warm thing instead of a shiny color
Happy Lunar New Years.

Ugh. man I'd be pretty saddened..someone backed into my car while I was parked and outside enjoyin' my carne asada burrito and I almost choked on my food. That ought to be around $300-$500 depending on how much the shop wants to rail you..

WOW! Because they are below income, this means they can't drive? You're a moron. I can't believe you just said that. I thought CL members are better than this.

Hm, how did my morality get brought into this? I didn't mean to associate them together, though that's how it seems, but you have impatient sick people coming to the pharmacy driving really beat up old cars. I've been hit before in this parking lot, and i've had a break-in attempt with my old car (smashed up the door handle). It's a poor neighborhood. Maybe they don't coincide. Let's just agree that it's people who are sick and impatient to get their medications.

Anyway, that sucks about my repairs. I have full coverage insurance, but the damage is too low for that ><
At least I know that it's a white car since their paint is all over mine.

I think the body shop will charge at least $1K to fix it right. You can take some laquer thinner and wipe the white residue off, it will make the damage less noticable while you're deciding where to fix it.

As far as the paint matching, I wouldn't worry about it. If you take it to a good bodyshop (not in the same neighborhood the you work) they will send down the entire bumper cover and the fender with about 1200 grid sandpaper. Then they will fix the damage, prime it, apply paint onto the damaged area only, blending it with the old paint, then spray the clearcoat on the entire fender and the bumper cover. After they buff the clearcoat up, you will never tell where the damage was.

As far as picking the bodyshop, I would ask the Lexus dealer for a refference. I hope you have the Uninshured Motorist/Property Damage coverage. If you do, your deductible is most likely $300.

Good luck.

One guy backed up to my car yesterday, but fortunately...only a very tiny scratch on the rear panel so I let him go....

Thanks for the kind words guys. Hmm, I will start shopping around for prices I guess. I will update you on the costs to fix, etc. to arnieosp, I don't have that coverage from the dealer, so it sucks. The worst thing for me is the idea that I could have been helping this selfish person fill their prescriptions, calling their doctors, etc.

I still have all the retro components, and will continue as planned, since money is not a prohibitive factor. However, I have had difficulty removing the SC430 projector from the housing as detailed by this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...or-diyers.html
If anyone knows how to loosen those headlight leveling screws, I would gladly appreciate it. Also, the glue on the sc430 was incredibly stiff, and even a high powered heat gun took over two hours of heating. I hope the IS headlights are not that stiff. Any comments for that? I bent up a lot of the housing taking the lens off.

Sorry to let the thread drag off topic. I work in under an hour, and now I think I should start looking for alternative parking, but I'm in a bind because I don't really trust the neighborhood well enough to want to walk far at night. Then again, four incidents in two years ..hm.
