week 3 of having this used car I just noticed something after clay bar, polish and wax. The fender paint on the passenger side looks off. There was no accident on the car fax but it looks like the fender got repainted possibly? The fading is under the clearcoat. I wonder how much it would cost to get this redone. How hard is it to remove this fender or should I just take the whole car and let them take it off or paint it without taking it off.
Whitish area

A professional could tell you if it's been painted. Are you sure it's not just some over spray ? Might be able to buff it out. I know you said it was under the clear coat but got to be sure.

yeah i'm sure it's not overspray. i had polished the car then waxed it, it is definitely under the clear coat.
How does the rest of the car look? Is it only the fender that looks like the paint is a different color shade?
If so, maybe the previous owner had the fender replaced for some reason and had it painted. Depending on how recent this paint job was done, it could be the reason behind the slight difference in color shade. When I had an accident in my previous silver car, I remember the bumper was repainted to the car's color code but in certain light, you can see a slight shade difference between the original paint on the car and the newly painted bumper with the same color code.
From here the orange peel looks consistent between both panels. More pics would be nice. I do see the shade difference though. Is it obvious in sun?
Honestly i'd just leave it alone unless it's obvious in the sun.
If you really want to spend money on it, you'd have to have that panel blended with the door and the hood. That would consist of taking the clear down on three panels, completely respraying the fender, and half the hood and half the front right door. then clear them all. You're looking at about a $1500 job.
Hard to be exact without more pictures but could be mottling of the basecoat. Dark grays and champagne type colors tend be harder to blend within the panel, more so with high metallics.
Looks like it's been repainted. Bring it to a repair shop and get them to test the thickness of the paint on the hood, fenders, etc. I'll bet they were resprayed.
definitely repainted. looks like when they went ahead and sprayed the clear coat, they spray too much or it caused a chemical reaction hence why there is a whitish hue. take it back to the dealer you bought it from and ask why they didn't disclose of the prior repair work. do your research before choosing a repair shop. they all do crappy work from time to time...
