Default Tire Change - Navigation Problems

I just got a new set of front tires on yesterday and now my navigation seems to be inaccurate. I have gone into the menu and tried to callabrate it. I chose the option that I put on new tires and it still seems to be off. Does anyone have any suggestions or have the proper procedure to follow after a tire change?

Is the "GPS" indicator under the map scale present?

I guess I am not sure. I will have to look on my way home. I don't know how changing the tires could have affected whether my car is getting a GPS signal. I do know it takes tire rotation into account so I would assume that is where it is off.

Changing the tires wouldn't affect whether you are getting a good signal, but I believe that a good signal is required for successful completion of the calibration.

When I choose the changed tires option the screen says entering calibration mode but then doesn't every do anything after that. Should it give more input or let me know when calibration is complete?

Addendum to the first question:

Does getting larger wheels...say, an upgrade from 17' to 19' wheels alter the navigation? And if so, how do you fix that?

The calibration that is done after a tire change tells the navigation system to recalculate how far forward the car moves during each rotation of the tire. This information (along with data from the yaw sensor), allows it to continue to show your position on the map even when it can't get a valid GPS signal, using dead reckoning.

After selecting recalibration after a tire change, it neither asks for more input nor tells you when it's done.

so is it always changing? How much of a difference does it really make if you never calibrate it??

I was not aware of this on our car if that is true.

Changing wheels wont' affect your navigation...what it would affect is your speedometer.

Learned this on my S2000 after putting on slightly larger wheels. The speedo had me at 2MPH slower than what my Garmin Nuvi GPS had me at.

i think its the opposite? I thought larger tires you where going quicker then the OD displayed? smaller tires would make you slower then what your going?? right

Thats exactly what he said. His Garmin showed him faster since he had larger tires - translation - his OD showed him slower than actual. The Smaller tires do the exact opposite. You go slower but you OD shows faster.

I, too, use my Garmin to compare speedo issues with aftermarket tire sizes. Its always good to know.
