Sharkfin antenna?

I've been reading this forum for hours about various topics and my head is starting to spin. I like the look of the sharkfin antenna... I think I read something about that coming with XM only (I can't seem to find the post now).

Question: Is the sharkfin antenna for XM only? If so, is it factory-installed only or does the dealer use the same antenna when they install it?

I asked my salesman to order a 2008 IS 350 with Nav (I assume this includes ML?). We came to an agreement on $40,000 for the car (plus tax, title, license). After reading these forums, I'm pretty sure I want to add a rear spoiler.

Question: Are factory installed spoilers bolted on? I read something about taped on... that scares me...

Factory spoilers ae bolted in. If the dealer didn't add that option during the order you can install it at the dealer. It doesn't have to be a factory installed option. Installed properly the trunk has to be drilled and the spoiler gets bolted in. a few guys here were skeptical about the permanent modification and were installing them with 3M tape instead. I doubt you would have a problem with it but the bolt in make it very secure.

You can also order the nav w/o ML. That option is NV. ML+Nav is option VN. It also has DVD playback fron the 6-dics indash unit. You can also get the ML w/o NAV. I have yet to see one.

The Shark Fin is for the XM only but when my IS comes in I plan on removing the entire assembly and modifying it to use the fin over the Siruis antenna.

have you come across anyone else that has had success modifying the sharkfin for sirius? is the sharkfin factory-only or dealer isntalled also? my dealer wants $795 for XM/Sirius.

shark fin is really for xm only? i dont think i have xm but i have a shark fin. im confused. how do i know if i have xm? lol. i never paid for it and i see no xm signs or buttons. i always just assumed they came with 07's

ML does not come automatically with NAV. In fact, it almost never comes with NAV. It is pretty rare. Unless your head unit has the ML logo in the bottom right it doesn't have it. It is an extra cost option.

All '07's and '08's have the shark fin. It doesn't mean you have XM. Turn on the Audio system and hit the Sat button, if you don't see the Preview station, 001, you don't have XM. It is an extra cost option.

The shark fin is really for XM. Sirius is still a rare bird for Lexus.

The rear lip spoiler will be drilled if installed as a Port Installed Option, or Dealer Installed Option. Only end users are using the tape only method.
