I was thinking of installing an xm radio to my ride but can't decide where to put the antenna. I seen dealer install the antenna at front center of the rear trunk near the bottom of rear window. I know this is not the location recommended by lexus instruction and I do agree because of possible blockage. I do not mind having the shark fin but how hard is it to install? Also, any other suggestion for installation? I was thinking of putting it inside the spoiler when I install one.

 

I put my antenna on the rear deck right next to the third brake light. Don't have any issues with reception unless the road I'm driving on is lined by trees (in which case, I don't think it matters where you mount it.)

This way, no one can get there hands on it and tear it off.

 

I installed the XM kit a month ago.. I REALLY didn't like the factory XM antenna place at all... Looks like i've added an aftermarket XM kit to my car.. Anyway, i decided to mount in inside the car... I've seen some pics with the antenna next to the third break light.. Much better than the factory recommended place, but i mount it UNDER the third break light.. 100% stelth and 100% functional.. Remember, as long as no metal is blocking it, it will work... 4 weeks of using and no issues at all...
