I see on the Canadian site that the scheduled maintenance is for 2008s is free for 4 years / 80,000km on a complimentary basis? Is this correct?
That's unfair, I'm gonna have to go out of my way and take my car to Toyota for servicing to avoid paying $600 for a service while new owners can do it for free at Lexus?
The 1k is for LPS.... My original window sticker mentions the "free" 1k and 5k service... On the Lexus owners website under LPS is also mentioned you get the settings done once for free if you bring it in for the 30 day/1k service.
I'm sure I've read you can get LPS once free anytime in the first year of ownership, but the "free" 30 day/1k maintence seems to be when they're pushing for you to do it.
yes this is true... the canadians get free servicing for 4 years/80000km. I was told by the dealer when i picked up my 2008 IS250, this plan started on Oct,2,2007
Tell me about it... the IS is around $15,000 less in the US at this point in time. In fact what I pay for for my IS250 per month, I could get an IS350 in the US for 1/3 less payments per month.
Before taxes my 2007 IS 350 with luxury and Nav package, basically fully loaded, along with winter tire/17" wheel package was about $59,000 and about $70,000 on the road if I recall correctly. The least Lexus Canada should do is offer free service for four years to make up for the huge price difference we Canadians pay for our cars.
Wow why dont they do that for us, here in the U.S.
Simply put, it's all about labor costs.
Service in the U.S. is expensive. Labor costs are very high; typically $80/hr for a dealership. If you do an oil change, $20 is for the filter and oil, and $40 is for the labor. A 30k mile check-up is $50 in parts and $500 in labor!!!
To add free service to U.S. vehicles is to add pre-paid costs of service to the MSRP/invoice, which will make Lexus less of a bargain compared to BMW and MB...
