Default Do you guys tip the mechanic?

Hi, just wondering I am going to take my car in for the first service later on this year and I want to know if I have to tip them or something. And also if I ask him to change the DRL/high beam light to white or blue do you think they gonna do it?

I don't tip ANYONE that is paid a salary that is NOT based on tips (like waiters, valets, etc.).

I don't tip my mechanic. I don't think there's a need to, you're already paying so much for the work done on your car. I do however, buy him coffee or some snacks when ever I grab one.

I don't tip my mechanics, but I've always stopped by the Service Department at Christmas-time and given gifts to them and to my service representatives.

Cool, what about the DRL/high beam light, do you think they gonna change the bulbs for me? and also I need them to adjust horizontal screw for the HID.

I don't tip with cash, but I typically bring in a box of donuts or a six-pack of beer...

My Japanese master mechanic I've known for 12 years, he has his own business. I usually tip him a six pack of cold ones if the job was especially difficult. If it was the dealership mechanic, then the answer would probably be no.

I guess it would depend on the reach around.

If you're going to a dealer or a shop, I wouldn't tip the mechanic. You're already paying alot as it is. If the mechanic was doing it on the side, I would give him a little more than what he asked for the work performed.
