Default Front bumper

So guys I see some IS' have holes in the front bumper for plates ... mine has none but I wonder is that because im in florida and we require no front licence plates ? If thats true that means only models shipped to states that require front and back license plates have bumper holes ? Are all cars moddified according to region by manufacturers ? Just curious lol

Got mine from Park Place Lexus of Grapevine and it has no holes for the front license plate, but I was on an allocation list and apparently they found one in Cali (my 2nd choice) 3 weeks later...

TX requires 2 license plates...

however, as of September 1st, 2007 - think we'll be able to get out of not having a front license plate when pulled over :] trying to stay low until then

haha well florida never really required two plates which is a good thing .. less is better in this case .. but i wish i had the bumper holes to stick on a custom tag or something ... because i heard putting in holes aftermarket can cause water to enter into the bumper overtime ... wouldnt want that haha but also dont know how true that is either !

The cars arrive with a clean front bumper (no drilled holes). It is up to the dealer to install them. I live in California and its against the law to drive without a front license plate, but only a handful of cops would notice and pull you over. Stevens Creek Lexus has them installed on there cars while Magnussens Lexus doesn't.

so do you think it would be possible to get them to drill the holes in if they dont already come that way ?

I'm in PA, where we only need 1 plate. I have no front holes, but there's 2 little dimples where the holes would be drilled if need be.

I saw a non drilled IS bumper for the first time this weekend at TOC in S.F. and was surprised to see those little dimples. I expected there to be nothing there.

Look close, the dimples are there. Some are just more pronounced than others. When light reflects off the bumper in just the right way you'll see the two indents.

I didn't notice till i was washing the car--and mine's silver, so it's probably more noticeable than say, Obsidian or SGM.

My permanent plates came in today so I called the Texas DOT to ask about this change and they said they never heard of it. So I had the front plate installed at the dealer just to be safe. That frikkin black bracket looks god awful under the chrome frame and on top of the white paint. I did notice driving home that about 1/4 of the cars didn't have a front plate. The dealer said only about 50% of the new cars have them installed. My fronts coming off real soon and I'll plug the holes.

Man, I wouldn't have drilled the bumper if you were just going to take them off. Now you will have two holes in the bumper, unless you have them patched and filled. I use a black CF plate frame on my front, so the black bracket isn't that noticeable.
