For those of you who drives in the snow...
Is it mandatory to get your 2is rust proofed? Iv'e been through one winter already and the next one is just right around the corner. I haven't got mine rust proofed and I want to know what the majority thinks about this protection. Thanks.

I thought that rustproofing was consistently one of the biggest dealer rip offs around? Doesn't the Lex have a 7/70 rust warranty?
It's been a long time since I have seen a car that's rusted out that's less than 15 years old.

i have a full in and out detail done in the fall in anticipation of winter and in the spring to clean the car up from the winter. seems to be working fine. have done the same on my other cars in the past.

Suggest you read the manual - warranty section - newer cars have extensive "rust-out" warranties. We've had our IS in snow, ice, salted roads, and slush, no issues with rust. We do try to clean it off (undercarriage included) as often as possible given the conditions. Our RX has been through three winters, with significant driving in snow and on 'salted' roads - no rust issues. Save your $'s and just try to keep it clean.

Modern cars get dipped in a rust-proofing agent before primer. Toyota's definitely do. The raw steel also has a galvanic coating beneath the rust-proofing. I think you're ok.
