Default Front license plate

Does anyone know how the front license plate is attached to the bumper? Are the holes drilled onto the bumper? Or is there a bracket that mounts to bumper without drilling extra holes? I'd like to find out before Elizabeth (Asiangirl007) places the order. If holes are drilled onto the bumper, I'll have her put in big bolt fonts that says "DO NOT DRILL HOLES INTO FRONT BUMPER FOR THE LICENSE PLATE".

Yeah I was wondering this as well. There aren't any screwholes on the front of the GS, so needless to say, we have 2 vehicles without a front license plate, soon to be 3

You bring up a good point I forgot about. KS does not have a front license plate but MO does and I have to go to either of the two dealership nearby which are both in MO. I don't want holes in my bumper. So many things to take care of....

Just be sure they make note of it on the order. A friend of mine did this, and the dealer DID put on a front plate, but they had to replace the front bumper because they screwed up. They offered him $500, but he took the new bumper.

the dealer drills holes on the front bumper to mount a license plate bracket/base, if it's required by your state. You can ask the dealer not to do so, at your own risk.

My dad has never been pulled over for a front license plate infraction, and he hasn't had one since he bought his first Lexus in 1994 (95 white LS400).

An LS doesn't quite attract as much attention from cops as an IS does. (especially a non-stock IS).

But its a roll of the dice... some people never get pulled over for it, some do. But having a car that attracts attention will up the odds.

just ask your dealer to leave the thing off (yes, it's done by the dealer, not at the factory or port). sometimes you have to sign a waiver if it's required by your state. i wasn't so lucky with my SC, so i opted for these plugs which look pretty good IMO (please ignore dead bugs on bumper , need a wash badly ):

Where did you buy the bumper plugs ? Just found some that would fit at home depot and painted them ? Or is there something more specific to the car ?

got them from http://bumperplugs.com/ . they fit very snugly and are finished looking, not like touch up paint.

they have most colors. the guy who owns/runs the company started it for porsche, and the popularity grew to the point he started offering more colors for different makes/models. i was super picky about the paint match, but it is pretty much dead on. the dealer-drilled holes were really ugly, puckered, and the screw for the bracket damaged my bumper paint. the plugs do a nice job of covering up once holes are in there - and i guess it's an easy way to deal with fix-it tickets if you happen to get one.

but, like rominl, i now insist that dealers don't drill my bumpers at delivery.
