hello everyone, i was looking around in my car today and i notice that there's a small black button in the glove box next to the little white light, i tried pressing it many time to see what it does but it doesn't seem to do anything? does anyone know what that button does or for???? i'll try to post some pics tomorrow if no one knows what im talking about.
It locks the trunk, so the valet or whoever you give your car to can't open the trunk with the fob if you lock your glove box.

thats not the button im talking about, there another one further into the glove, maybe half way in??? i'll take a pic of it tomorrow and hope it'll help.
Yeah but I don't see the point because if the valet has your key he can get inside the car and just push the trunk release can't he?
Correct, but you can take the metal key with you and just give him the plastic fob. Then he will not be able to unlock the glove box (and the trunk if u pushed the "button").
I meant isn't there a trunk release button next to the gas release on the underside of the dash? I don't have an IS, but I just assumed every other Lexus has this.
yes there is a button to pop open the trunk next to the gas door button but that is disabled once you push the button inside the glove box. the trunk is totally disabled from inside and outside buttons. Once the glove box is locked with the metal key the trunk can not be opened. So you can leave valuables in the trunk and then push the button in glove box, lock the glove box with the metal key and take the metal key with you before giving the valet attendent the plastic fob.
It amazes me that people don't know this about the trunk. It's certainly nothing unique to Lexus. Unless the IS is the first car you or your parents have ever owned, haven't you guys ever gotten a key that doesn't open the trunk from the outside? Why would they do that unless there was a way to lock out the trunk?
