We don't have our car yet, but it sort of looks like the button on the refrigerator that turns the light on when you open the door. It isn't that?

My second guess is that it's a microphone to check to see what you're doing when you're out with that sweet car. Does anyone have a reason to distrust you?

i don't remember if i have like that button in my car(too lazy to go check) ,,

but couldn't it be the button that controls the light inside the glove box ? if the button is closed that means the glove box is closed so the light will go off?

It is the button for a short boost of NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems)
Just press it and it should get you 0-60 in 4 sec.
Oh and you need to be in "power-mode" when doing this
(It wont work under normal-mode or snow-mode).

That button is to program the TPS for different sets of tires. You can program a set of winter tires and summer tires.

It's for the tire pressure sensor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-L...spagenameZWDVW

"The transmitter ID codes for two sets of tires—such as regular and winter—may be registered in the system (ID registration must take place at a Lexus dealership). A tire select switch on the left of the glovebox allows the driver to easily select the appropriate tire set for monitoring."

No its not. You program the TPMS via the display on the dash and the buttons to the left of the steering wheel...

If that were the case than we would all have "the button" since we all have TPMS. I just checked and I dont have it.

actually they may be right, remember that there are two different type of sets of TMPS Sensors, Cars produced Pre- April '06, and After April '06, maybe that has to do with it. Because that ad on ebay clearly states its changed by a button in the glove box.

im still not sure what it is, but i think it has something to do with my alarm, i would go try it now, but i don't think my neighbor would appreciate me setting my alarm off at this time. thanks a lot for everyones help though, it seems that everyone here is very imaginative, ohh compfilter i don't have NOS in my car so it's not for that. well at least i don't think i have NOS

The ad on ebay is wrong. The button to select which set of tire pressure sensors the ECU monitors is located to the left of the steering wheel, not the glove box - although technically, it is left of the glove box. Just waaaay left of the glove box...
