Angry Low Mpg Help!

Let me start saying this has probably been discussed before, sorry for reposting but the search doesn't work.

Ok, I have had my IS350 for about a year now and it has roughly 7000Miles on it. I have not paid much close attention to my MPG until recently when gas started get more expensive.

Here is the deal, my computer shows me that it Averages about 18mpg and sometimes 20-21 when I have done a lot of freeway driving. Next, my range aprox. has shown at most 320miles, most of the time 300 or so ever since I picked it up from the dealer. Ok, now the tank is 17gallons and the est. MPG on the web is 21/28. I realized that I am getting very poor MPG in my car. I drive a little rough from time to time but lately I have been reallly easy on the gas because I wanted to see what kind of MPG I really get......

HMM
Please tell me what you IS350 owners get...

Again sorry for repost but search doesn't work and I need to know.

Those numbers are estimations, based on a lot of factors. Calculate your REAL mpg... Fill up your tank, set the trip odometer to zero. Next fillup -- Note the gallons it takes to fill up your tank. Look at the mileage on your trip odometer. Divide those miles by the number of gallons you used. THAT is your mpg - - not some estimate on the dash.

Yeah dont look at the range mile. I get around 15-17. 300 is good, I get around 200 at 1/4 left.

80-90% highway driving (in rush hour traffic averaging about 30 mph) I get about 26-27 mpg in the warmer months. In the colder months, I was getting 23-24 mpg.

On long straight stretches of highway, I get about 30 mpg at a steady 70 mph in the warmer months and about 3 mpg less in the colder months.

Oh yeah, I drive like an AARP member most of the time.

I get about 24 mpg consistantly (I have 10k miles). In bad, stop and go traffic, I sometimes enable "Snow mode" and this allows me to get 26-27mpg.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe "Snow mode" decreases throttle response, power, etc. Thus, during stop and go traffic, I don't need a sensitive throttle and power so it works for me (and saves gas ).

How do you guys get these kind of MPGs? are you sure you have IS350 and not 250?

I have been really easy on the gas driven tons of freeway lately and it never gives me above 20.

I get around 22 mpg when i try to be good. but on a avg i get around 19mpg. you have to remember that to get the high MPG it all depends on weather and your speed. I believe a constant 65 mph is the best way to get this on a flat road. correct me if i am wrong.

I think it was 50mph. I say 40mph on our car because it shifts to 6 at that speed?

Sorry to hijack your thread but how do you calculate true MPG? Maybe you guys can calculate it for me...Here's the deal, when I fill up, I get about 356 approx miles left. I fill up with 15.1 gallons. My ODO usually shows that I'm getting about 22 mpg (tank avg).

So what is my true MPG?

Btw, I drive A LOT of hwy (80% hwy) and 20% city. I drive usually about 15 mph above speed limit. I know, I know, my right foot is made of lead.

If by 356 miles left, you actually mean you went 356 miles since you last filled up, then it's just 356/15.1 = 23.576.

Ahh I see...So my true MPG is approx 23.5? Not bad for a heavy right foot!
