Default Oil maintenence

This started a few days ago: whenever I turn on my car, a flashing message appears after the self-check saying, "oil maintenance required soon".

How soon do I need to get it changed? I have a little under 4650 miles on the car.

The message starts coming on 500 miles before the service interval. Once the service interval is passed the warning message (and light) stay on continuously.

I had my oil changed by my local mechanic at mile 9500 but the oil maintenance required soon message continued to flash is now showing up as oil maintenance required

Does this message mean that I need to have the oil changed again?
or
Does it mean that I just need to reset the computer to notify mean 3000-5000 miles from now?
if thats the case can anyone help me figure out how to reset the system?

thanks in advance...
Mike

It means you need to reset the maintenance indicator. The procedure is is easy to do, and is in the owners manual, in the FAQ that is stickied at the top of the forum, and in literally dozens of posts in the searchable archive.
