Default Oil Maintenance Req Issue?

I'm curious if any of you experience this and if you know what the reason might be?

For the past 2 oil changes, the Oil Maintenance Req warning would pop up after only 1,000 miles? I reset it every time after I do an oil change. Is this because the oil is bad or I'm burning oil? I've checked the dipstick and I still have enough oil. Carbon Buildup? What could be the issue?

Any help or thought would be appreciated! Thanks!

I reset it back to the default 5,000 miles. Faulty sensor?

The oil maintenance light doesn't use a sensor. It simply counts the number of miles. Are you sure you sure you reset it properly after the oil change, i.e., waited for the line of dashes to go across the display when resetting it?

The same thing happened to me after just over 800 miles. I'm very sure i reset the light. I asked the dealer about it they just kinda poo-poo'd it away and reset it for me. It reappeared in roughly 4100 miles, confirming I did it the first time....so how did they make it go off without reseting the mileage count back to 5000?

Yes. I can do it every time it reappears, so I'm just curious why it appears in such a short amount of time. Just hoping it's not a bigger issue.

It says "OIL MAINTENANCE REQ SOON" (or something to the effect of) when its 4100/5000 miles? Sounds normal, hence SOON. You can also change the miles/date in the NAV screen if you have it.

I'm pretty certain the "soon" warning that goes away after a few seconds starts at 4500, and the one that doesn't go away, with the annoying light, comes at 5000.

I also think the maintenance reminders available on the nav system are separate from the one in the instrument cluster.
