Default AC circulation problem

I havent' had any problems with the AC until this morning but I usually leave it on recirculate. So as I was driving this morning the AC switched to fresh air mode out of no where. At first I thought I had left it on auto but the auto light wasn't on and my AC fan wasn't on either so I'm not sure why it would change on its own. Anyone else have this problem? I'm 100% sure it's not on auto and the AC/fan wasn't being used as well.

I'm having the same problem, dealer says it's normal. I don't buy it.
I remember reading something about this being fixed with the updated NAV DVD. I did a search but couldn't find it.

My '06 always used to switch back to fresh air mode every time I restarted the car. Since obtaining the updated Nav DVD, it remembers my last setting. I don't remember reading anything about this side effect (I'm not even sure that others who had the nav TSIB performed had this happen), but I'm so happy about it that it almost makes up for losing the ability to enter destinations while moving.

One of the LPS settings is MANUAL .... i.e. you set the auto/recirc mode and it stays that way. I like recirc mode in humid weather, so I have it set that way.

yeah, if you go to the dealership, they can set this to stay put... instead of switching on its own.

I like to keep it in auto and would like it to stay there. What can I tell the dealership to do so it will stay in auto mode?

yes...LPS should take care of that....

but why we have to take it back to the dealer to get it fixed? why cant they make it as an "user modifiable him/herself" item???

Hmm... I don't think that's my problem though.... I think my LPS is set on manual since my car remembers the last setting I had it on even after I turn the car off. This has only happened twice and I fixed it by resetting my AC (the manual tells you how somewhere...). I think it was the AC system just bugging out on me... BTW I wasn't using the AC at the time. The only reason why I knew that it switched to fresh air without me touching anything was because I was driving by an area that normally smells bad and all of a sudden my car started smelling bad. I looked at my Recirculate button and it was on Fresh Air for some reason... BTW, I don't have NAV and my AC was NOT set on Auto. Ah well... doesn't matter since it hasn't happened again.

The "standard" LPS setting is:

"When the air conditioner is ON or in AUTO the vehicle... 1. automatically switch between the recirculation mode and fresh air mode as necessary to meet the temperature requirements set"

This is how mine is set, yet it still takes itself out of auto somehow.

Note the OP--the AC wasn't on. The LPS is for when the Auto CC is on. If you turn the CC off, then if you turn to fresh mode, you should have some fresh air coming thru the vents, and if it's on recirc, it shuts air down coming thru the vents.

I have the same problem--when I shut off the car with the button on fresh (AC OFF), it doesnt always start up the next time in fresh. I've even noticed that at start up, it IS ON FRESH, but a few minutes later, I look down and it's on RECIRC. I get it when the AC is on, but I'm a bit puzzled why it does this when the AC is off.

Good point, I guess I don't have the same problem he has.
Mine is with the AC on and the Recirculate/Fresh/Auto button in auto, it takes itself out of auto.
