Change Oil Warning Adjustable?
Ok, I've looked around and can't find an answer to this question. Can the notification that you need an oil change be adjusted from a 5k interval to a 7.5k interval?
I do alot of freeway driving, 92 miles a day to and from work, so I'd like to use the 7.5k oil change interval that Lexus suggests for my type of driving instead of the 5k (every 2 months in my case).
I know I can clear the warning manually but is would still be nice if I could get the warning for the appropriate interval for me.
Is this something that the dealer can set? I know that answer is probably NO because the 5k setting is hard coded into the car.
Oh well, just though I'd ask

unit74, There is a method to clear the message, it's in your owner's manual under self maintenance (it's also on here too... somewhere) look under oil change. It has something to do with holding down the odo switch button.
What I want to do is adjust the interval.

You can't adjust it upward, only downward. As the dashes disappear you add to the interval, but the maximum is 5k. Sorry, it just isn't friendly that way.

I set it to 5,000 as that works for me. I have not tried to set it to any other value. I was also able to change the values for the air filter and other things listed on the menu, but I haven't tried to enter a value higher than 5,000 for the oil and filter categories.
Update: I tried it this morning before work and was able to set it to 7,500 miles without issue...now, I still have no idea if this would change the reminder light that comes on in the instrument panel as I was using the 5,000 mile spec.
