It would be cheaper if you did it and you could also reset the maint reqd yourself, too.

You don't have to take it in to Lexus. You can reference these threads on how to change your IS250 or IS350, and this thread on how to clear the 'Oil Maint Reqd' light, all of which are found in the FAQ's for the 2nd Generation IS.

Wouldn't you have aready received this message at about 45xx miles? What did you do then?

I got my first one at exactly 5k. Always figured the second would be at exactly 10k or exactly 5k after the first was reset (which was a few miles after 5k).

Do it yourself. No one cares for your car like YOU do!

Thanks for all the great advice and write ups. The first oil change at 5k, I sold out and took it to lexus. they did i for free the first time though. They wanted me to pay for the second one. I think that was the first time that I actually took my car anywhere to do an oil change for me. I always do them myself. Also does anyone have anythoughts on using amsoil or royal purple? thats what i always used for my other cars. Thanks again

Use the brand that you feel most comfortable with. If you are using Royal Purple, then you are clearly an enthusiast.
