Ok I'm lost now..
The original post with the cable from japan.- DID it ever work? and what happen to that project.
Nav TV is a good company and I know that would work but that is $500+

Alright folks...
i have had my car torn apart for nearly 2 weeks now.
i am unable to make the j52 work without any type of special signal.
there has to be a special signal to trigger the screen to use the j52 input.
this has to do with the avc-lan...hence the reason why the navtv uses the two wires...tx+ and tx-.
it is an emulator of some type.
but i am still working on it so...hopefully i can figure something out without using nav tv.

Thanks!
Wow this is by far one of the longest projects I have done.
I have installed the following devices:
Nav TV module
Kenwood Input Selector
A/V Jack in glove compartment to Input 2 (FOR IPOD VIDEO, DIGITAL CAMERA)
Panasonic DVD Changer in trunk to Input 1
I have also done my method of the Nav Hack with switch:
ON POSITION - NAV Hack
OFF POSITION - OEM CONNECTION
I prefer my method of Nav Hack because in the event the car is searching for those wires, a flip of the switch can bring it back to OEM Connections.
I have also wired the Nav Hack Switch to the following:
Nav TV Module
Panasonic DVD Changer
Kenwood Input Selector
I didn't get to take much pictures becuase I was rushing this project. The IS is going into the Dealer 2morrow for Oil Change and my 3rd Smart Key Programming.
Here are the pictures I have taken:
Switched Nav Hack Relay setup

Panasonic DVD Changer Remote EYE

$15.00 Switch from DigiKey

DigiKey Switch Flush MOunted onto a dead panel

And it WORKS! Note this is not a Mark Levinson Navigation

isTundra,
Great job on the install, can't wait for the DIY !!!,
Quick question, Is there any advantages to installing NavTV vs. Hacking the backup camera?
I don't know if I'm missing something - but, The NavTv unit is upwards of $500; while hacking the backup camera is nearly free.

yes there is!
The screen will say "CHECK SURROUNDINGS FOR SAFETY"
AND
The Video Feed will NOT come back ON if you use the climate control, MAP, INFO, Etc.
You can confirm this easily.
Put your car in REVERSE, Press the MAP button.. and then see if you can get back to the REVERSE CAMERA.
I guess you can overcome this by switching the reverse camera switch OFF then ON.
AND YES, I get Both Audio and Video w/ Nav TV.
If any1 in the Bay Area plan to install this, PM ME. I know of a shop in San Jose that will do this install! This is the same shop where I got the part from. They are good friends of mine... I can always step in make sure everything is correct. I already gave them my schematics!

It does not use FM Radio. It actually uses the AUX Port.
For OEM, when you press the DISC button twice, the AUX Port will be activated... And for instance if you are in CD MODE, by pressing DISC again, it will bring you to AUX... from AUX MODE to CD, you just press the DISC button and it will bring you back.
To activate the Nav TV is exactly the same thing. Between CD and Nav TV, you simply have to press the DISC Button.
That is why i hooked up the Nav TV to a switch. If you have the Nav TV hooked up to the ACC, you will not be able to use the AUX port inside your arm rest. By having it switched OFF, your car will think everything is OEM. By having it switched ON, your car will think there is a INPUT for AUX and also activate the EMULATION for DVD Changer.
So the sound quality is GREAT. Just how i expected it.

Everything?
The module is the most expensive part. I could not disclose the price for the part... but just as shyishguy said "$500+"
The DVD Changer is about $250.00
So assuming you are getting the DVD Changer and the Module itself.. $750? Plus labor and additional parts (wire, connectors, relays, etc)
