Default Hack without Destinations in Motion???

Maybe I misunderstood what the nav hack would accomplish but I thought it would let me search for destinations while in motion.

The things that I CAN do while in motion is:
1. View DVD's
2. Access my telephone book
3. Navigate my MP3 folders
4. View song details (I have a Vais installed).

Because of this I feel I did the hack correctly. If I have a location identified on the nav screen I can press "Enter" to have it route as a destination (while driving) but if I don't, it won't let me search for one (i.e. by address or POI).

Because I got the car for less that two weeks ago I don't know if that's standard behavior or not.

Is that normal hack functionality?

I know there's a way to allow this functionality by pressing locations on the nav screen (I have the steps) but I thought doing the hack would make this capability permanent.

The recommended nav hack does not let you enter destinations while in motion. There is an alternate version of the hack that lets you do that, but it results in the navigation updates becoming jumpy.

Bichon is right. The only way to avoid doing the volume "bypass" to enter destinations will cause you to have jumpy nav.

I wasn't aware there was an "alternate" hack method. What is it?

You just don't reconnect the speed signal. Once you cut the connection, just leave it disconnected.

That particular function is not covered by the nav hack. The only clean was is to go do the volume screen UL,LL,UL,LL override. This will let you input POI's in motion until you turn off the car. Then you have to do it again. I have made it part of my startup "ritual" -- press I Agree, go to volume screen, override, etc...

How often do you put destinations while driving? I'm wondering if this is something I can put in, on the fly, when I need it (or does the car have to be stopped?).

i think the real problem with nav protection is that its too protective. i understand maybe turning off buttons when youre speeding on the freeway but when youre driving 0-30mph why can you not type something in quickly?

i think lexus killed it with the 10mph limit or whatever its set at..
wonder if there will be software hacks to modify that in the future.

If you are refering to the volume overide, that can be done while driving at any speed.
