Default XM/Sirius Receiver?

I know Lexus offers the satellite receivers as dealer-installed options and it looks like they are charging about $400 plus install.

Do you need to buy through a dealer or can you buy from another source and have them install?

Since the stock radio is made by Pioneer, couldn't you just buy an XM receiver made for that brand? Also, what if anything would be compatible with the ML system?

Is there any advantage to going through the dealer?

Default Aftermarket is less expensive but...

you don't get the messaging across your display as you would with the Lexus accessory XM or Sirius tuner. The only problem is that the Lexus satellite tuners are not on the market yet.
