Default Heated seats?

Is it supposed to take really long to warm up? I get to my destination before it even begins to heat up.

I noticed that while test driving the car. Was wondering if the heated seats even worked.

I was wondering the same thing with the ventilated seats. They didn't seem to get cool at all during my test drives.

That's honestly pretty normal on a Lexus. I've noticed that BMW is honestly the only manufacturer where the heated seats get hot quickly.

VW's an exception as well, but that's because they start on fire

Default Ventilated seats use airflow...

which is slower than the toaster coils that were used in previous years. The advantage is that they can also cool the seats through the perforations in the leather. This trend is found in all of the newest Lexus models and will probably become the standard. In the past you wouldn't find the heated seat option in Florida as it wasn't necessary. Now seat cooling is offerred which makes the car more adaptable to all climate conditions. It's not as dramatic a warm up as the older type so just put it on 3 (max) and wear layers if you have to...

My Audi gets HOT within 1 minute (no joke). My parents have an RX 330 and those seats also get HOT within 3-4 minutes. 15 minutes for it to get luke warm is a LOOOONG time.

Wow. My ES takes a good 5 or so. You're right about the RX though... within 3 minutes it goes from to

I honestly haven't used the heated seats in the GS's yet, only the vents. I'll try them out later.

I asked the sales guy to explain how the cooling process works. He said that there is a wafer that air passes through. If its on that it heats the seat, if its off then cool air just passes through. He said that the IS is not AC cooled like the GS and above are, its just ambient air. So on hot days, you might not notice the cooling affect as much as the colder days.

I noticed on my 2001 GS430 that the seats took a really long time to get even a little warm, I was pretty dissapointed and the temperature they reached in 15 min was not very warm at all and did not even seem like it was really a noticeable difference from the other one that was not on. My parents Acura TL and CL seem to get warm pretty quickly like 3 or 4 minutes and much warmer then the GS, plus they have a high/low setting.

the ventilated seats on the IS should at least be enough to cool whatever sweat you've got on your back on a hot day, which will lend itself to cooling you off.. a nice simple alternative.
