Default Lexus IS 300 inline 6 engine

How would you rate this engine? Compare to a V-6.

Well, in general

I6's are much smoother, have better power delivery and can be boosted to higher hp levels than a V6 (possibly)

The one advantage of the V6 is packaging and fitment into a smaller engine bay.

Also the same motor used in the Supra Twin Turbo, capable of 800RWHP on 93 octane gas (I know someone that has one).

Yeah, it's a decent motor

Thumbs up. It's a G head motor. Not an economy Toyota F series head. All V engined Toyotas are F head based where as the high performance G head engines are inline. There's more potential for G head engines performance wise that is. I've moved from a 5spd Camry Solara 1MZ-FE V6 to a new 04 auto IS300 2JZ-GE. They both may have the same displacement but I enjoy the 2JZ-GE's powerband more than the 1MZ-FE V6's.

i don't think 800 rwhp is possible on 93 octane. not even a t88h can do that on 93 octane. i pull up the bs flag until we get some proof.

to put that much power i would think your engine would be pinging like crazy before you even hit that mark. and no one is stupid enough to let their engine ping like that and keep on going... unless they want to see some smoke

Smile V6 versus I-6

Vee-6 or an in-line? This is a real no-brainer. Wait till you guys have to get spark plugs, drive belts, water pump, timing belt, or almost ANYTHING done at the front of the engine....you'll be glad you got an in-liner mounted fore-and-aft like on the IS300. Spark plugs, especially, can be a real problem on the back side of a V-6. Plus, the fore-and-aft inline 6 sits farther back in the engine compartment for more even weight distribution. True, a sideways-mounted V-6 / front drive like on the ES300 will give better rain/snow traction, but with traction control and the 16-inch all-weather tires the IS300 is at least passible, and you don't buy a sport sedan like the IS for lousy weather anyway.
