OEM LSD: cracking the "code"!
Obviously Im new,
havnt really had a chance to look around, but i thought Id
take care of this first. I joined because a mutual forum friend
(MY.IS - 3rdEdelement, hope i didnt put him on blast. LOL!)
thought that maybe some of you guys would appreciate some
of my findings.
In the past three weeks, a member and myself have been tryin to
figure out the mystery of the IS300 Differential sticker,
(M96, M98, M85). With alot of junk yard hopping and a few
voluntary post of some fellow members, Ive come to this conclusion.
1. M96= Open differential (auto/manual)
2. M98= Locking differential (LSD)
Auto 3.9 gear ratio
3. M85= Locking differential (LSD)
Manual 3.7 gear ratio
My friend (Brian7) and I (2JZ-adm), had to ask for contributions
from other members for Diff. sticker numbers and door jamb codes
to verify my theory and bring this search to an end.
in which 3rdElement gave me the last piece of the puzzle.
Anyway I wont run on and on, I just hope that my hard work
can help possibly help somebody out when they go a searching for
the OEM LSD!
Ill leave a shortcut to the thread at MY.IS so you can read through
and see pics! (hope Im not breaking any rules on my first post, haha)

I was so excited and at the same time jealous. LOL!
Going with my "Armenian connection" to his friends lexus salvage yard and
gonna have a field day!

cant wait, hope the whether will be decent on friday!
im trying to get my hands on some nav components.
and the face of a climate control. heheh happy hunting. wish i could find a single is300 in a junk yard here in colorado. good luck on the nav components. i ended up buying a motorized housing and put an alpine tme-m760 screen inside. now i just need to find a good brain that can be fairly updated without spending 1g.
