If your on somewhat of a budget here are your options:

1: Air intake with a piggyback ECU ex: AREA51 or SRT intake and ECU or Weapon-R intake and ECU. Prices range from 600.00 to 1000.00. Average gain in horsepower 12-16 rwhp.

2: Add a exhaust (HKS, Greddy, Tanabe etc.) Prices range from 440.00 to 700.00. Average gain in horsepower 6-10 hps, questionable.

3: Any air intake ie: Injen, RMM, AEM ? with AREA 51's BB (Black Box). Gain in horsepower 10-13+ rwhp. Price range from (200.00-300.00 intake) + (AREA51 BB 210.00) = 410.00-610.00

4. Add the Apexi S-AFC to any intake price 320.00-500.00. Plus labor for install and tuning with a DYNO. RWHP gains will vary.

5. NOS kit. prices will vary depending on manufacture.
50-75 lbs boost, to be on the safe side.

*The Area51 BB can be run alone but you would show greater improvements with an air intake and exhaust.
*If you run an air intake without and piggyback ECU you'll probably notice a lose in power or no gain what so ever. Actually gains in rwhp and torque will vary depending on driving conditions.
*Currently there is a group buy on the AREA51 BB. www.groupbuycenter.com for 210.00 too your door, very good deal at this time.
*SRT is working on a new ECU that replaces the factory ECU not a piggyback price and gain in RWHP/torque not known at this time. SRT is also working on a Race Piggyback ECU which is supposed to gain an additional 8-10 rwhp compared too the standard ECU that comes with the "SRT intake and Piggyback ECU. They may/will give credit for the old ECU that came with the intake plus an additional 50-150.00 for the Race ECU.

Money is not an object: prices vary (3500.00 too very expensive, 20,000.00 plus) at least that what some members say at the www.IS300.net'S forum.

Turbo: XS Engineering or Toyomoto
Supercharger: AREA 51 or SRT.
Gain in RWHP vary from 100 to 400+ hp depending on manufacture.

TRD is also working on a supercharger for the IS300 prices and HP is not set/known at this time.

** All these prices and options come from members comments on www.Is300.net'S forum.

If you need more detailed information do a search at www.is300.net you will also fine actual dyno charts in the forums for particular products.

5Zigen Fireball exhaust is quietest, but doesn't make the most power.

Try Ben at Shinestreet.com

He's got good prices.

The 5Zigen exhaust is the rear secton only. In other words it's after the pre-muffler/resonator. Consequently id does not require remounting any O2 sensors.

I've had mine on since Dec. 2000 and have had no problems.

BTW a board member of IS300.net posted photos of the OEM rear muffler and you would not believe how restrictive the unit is. There's a spring loaded "flapper" that prevents any free flow of exhaust gases from the car. Unbelievable.

Go look under your car.

From the main cat, there's about 14-16 inches of open pipe. Then that open pipe leads to a pre-muffler/resonator. This resonator is about 18" long. Then there's about 22" of open pipe that forms the rear section leading to the rear cannister.

There isn't a lot of open pipe between the main cat and the rear section. Moreover, the piping appears to be high quality and rather large in diameter. I've already tried to run open pipe in place of the resonator and it is very loud.

I'm not against cat-back systems, but on the IS 300, there might not be that much difference between cat backs and a high quality rear section. Even the current aftermarket cat-back systems have their own resonators. IMO removal of the resonator creates an unbearably loud car.

I don't have any audio or video files of the sound the 5Zigen makes.

The only thing I can state is that the IS 300 is my wife's daily driver and she does not object to the sound at all.

My research led me to believe that the SRT stuff wasn't that great to begin with. You're, also, not going to get much power out of an intake upgrade. Power comes from upgrading the cylinder head and adding boost/nitrous. The intake tract and exhaust system are rarely a "problem" on stock or slightly modified cars.
