Unhappy confused on intakes

Im throughly confused now

if i buy something should i purchase the ecu as well as the intake or is the intake sufficient enough. should i worry about cold air intake. Is it going to make that much of a difference. does akimoto make a good one or should i go with weapon r even if i dont get the cold air and ecu????????????????

totally confused

thanks

Im procrastinating so I suppose Ill help you out...

My 2 cents would be to definately buy and intake and ecu combo. I know that people who have bought the RMM intake have had problems with pinging as a result of the leaning out of the air/fuel mixture without compensating. The intake alone might actually produce less power and be potentially harmful to your engine  .

should i worry about cold air intake. Is it going to make that much of a difference.
Yes and no... It WILL make a difference, but the question is are you willing to spend the extra $$ for the extra power? The fact is any intake isn't going to make much of a difference in terms of real world performance. Cold air will give you what... like 5 hp? Thats crap in the scheme of things... plus thats 5hp only when you are at like 5000 rpms. That'll maybe knock .005 seconds off your quarter if you're lucky. If you've got the $$ go for it, but remember an intake isnt going to make your GS keep up with an M5. If thats what you want you may have to look elsewhere. So in short the answer is no... the difference is minimal although it will have an effect.

Sorry... cant comment here as I am in fact an SC guy but Ive heard good things about the weapon R and like others have said it is a pretty well known company. Ive heard a little about the akimoto, but I really dont know on that subject.
