New to me...2019 450hL and loving it...faster than I thought when test driving.
just drove from Destin FL to Miami today
topped off gas by click click click before reset all the counters and proceeded. Made it to Turkey Lake turnpike plaza...409 miles with last 2 miles saying “refuel now” (no more miles left range). Did same clicking gas off to the top most full I could get it..15.9 gallons. Seems right “refuel now” = about 1 gallon remaining. So this equate to 25.75mpg but trip computer said 23.0 mpg! So why the huge difference in actual vs the info on the dash? Avg 78mph and not a single stop in the 409 miles.
So why the difference? Definitely happy I am getting more mpgs than computer says I am but it is of interests.
btw...I am using premium 93 gas
You’re getting about the same mpg that I’m getting, maybe a little better. This car doesn’t get good mpg on the highway. It shines in the city driving. My computer is usually fairly close to hand calculations, +\- 1 mpg. When you fill up, make sure you zero all the trip computer settings or it will read way off. I’ve found that it only likes Top Tier fuels. I only have 91 octane due to elevation here, but if I use 91 non Top Tier, I might get 21 mpg. I’ve been using 87 octane Phillips 66 & Im getting 23-24 mpg. I have noticed that when I have my A/C fan on high, it rarely shuts of the engine & my mpg goes WAY down. If you experiment with your A/C fan, you might get a little better. It’s over 100 daily here, so I’m stuck with low mpg.
as you can see below...377 miles non stop avg 82mph for about 4.5hrs and 16.6g of gas. This was from Miami to Live Oak non stop from when I topped off in Miami
'16 RX450h F Sport with 36k miles. 24.52mpg city on 92 (2017) and 24.14mpg city on 87 (2018). Octane comparison is YoY and same fuel brand so mpg is not affected by seasonality or brand. A 1.5% decrease in mpg is definitely worth switching to 87 and could be partially due to an aging car.
27.5mpg highway. I am a fast driver and am enjoying the hybrid over my older RX350.

My mpg is opposite! I’m getting between 24 - 26 mpg combined (mostly city) & 22 - 24 highway. This car has never seen 30 mpg as a real reading (once after leaving the dealer & they reset everything). It never happened again. I do not notice any difference between 91 octane & 87 octane, but I damn sure notice between top tier & non top tier fuel brands. If I put Sam’s Club or Fina fuel in it, I’m lucky to get 22 -23 mpg & sometimes worse! I don’t understand how a 6.2 V-8 with a 6 speed manual can get 17 mpg around town & 25 - 27 mpg all day at 75 - 80 mph & this freak’n hybrid can barely crack 25 mpg on a good day. My friend’s Tundra is just damn pathetic. He needs a 50 gallon fuel tank in the bed if he plans on any long trips.

You're in Texas, so I'm sure you drive on the highway at much higher speeds. High speeds is worse for hybrids because we're carrying extra weight for almost no reason.
I'd be real skeptical if a Tundra (if that's the 6.8V8 car you're referencing) driver told you he was getting 25-27 MPG on the highway though: https://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/tundra
Also it's rated for 13 city and 18 highway.

Yes, I’m in TX. Locally, our freeway is set to 65 mph & main highways are 75 mph. Really deserted highways are 80 mph.
Sorry if I was confusing you. The great mpg was from my Camaro SS. My friend’s Tundra won’t even get 18 - he’s lucky to get 15 mpg highway. It’s a pathetic turd in my opinion, but he loves it.

It's a little surprising because of the large V8 and gas guzzling reputation. But it looks like the Camaro SS is about 1,000lbs lighter (23%! less weight) and probably way more aerodynamic, especially on those nice wide TX freeways.

2020 RX450h fill up at 729 miles. Traveled 358.4 miles, all city, short trips, cold weather 30 to 50 degrees F. 26.2 mpg calculated. The RX said 26.7 mpg. Filled up with QuikTrip Premium.

Your mileage definitely is good & on the higher side. Often, my displayed vehicle mpg is over 1 mpg off from the hand calculated mpg. As a generalized statement, if you are getting better than 25-26 mpg, you are doing good. Some folks on here have boasted they got well into the 30s & one stated 40 mpg. That is not at all realistic & strangely, they disappeared from this forum. Enjoy your new Lexus!
As far as the weight difference, I’m about 80% sure it’s not 1,000 lbs difference between the RX & the Camaro SS. The 450h has the heavy battery, plus 2 electric motors & wiring & the Camaro uses a lot of aluminum suspension parts, but we have a lot of options that add weight. My guess is there is closer to 600-800 lbs difference between the two. The Camaro is absolutely the BEST vehicle on the highway in wind & it just runs effortlessly. The only caveat is the road must be smooth. If the road surface is rough pavement (often found in TX) or has patches, the Lexus wins that battle. I would like to drive the RC & LC V-8 & compare them to the Camaro. Obviously, a little different, but all are 2 door, V-8, rear drive. If I didn’t have the motorcycle trailer to pull, it would be a no brainer for me.

30 mpgs or somewhere in that region is quite possible. I have averaged between 29 and 31 in my RXh. I drive a steady mix of freeways and surface streets. In heavy traffic and not so heavy at times. I use mostly 89 Octane and live in the Los Angeles area so YMMV.

Glad to see you share this sentiment. I’ve averaged 28.2 on my ‘20 450 since buying it new in May of last year. I was assuming my mpg average was probably not that great and have questioned off-and-on if getting a hybrid was the correct call for me.
Well after a bit over a month driving my new to me 2107, I am very happy with my gas mileage! I am averaging 28.2 MPG winter driving since I bought it (1100 miles so far since last reset), and twice have checked to actual mileage and actual was .4 MPG better the first check and .6 MPG better the second, so I'm likely a bit better then 28.2. I've had several 20 or so mile trips over 30 also. I drive mostly rural roads, I put it at 70% city 30% highway as a rough guess. My 2016 Rav4 SE on the same driving in winter was 25.5 average so considering the power, weight, ride and noise difference, this was a great choice for me at this point. .....Forgot to add I'm running 93 oct. super and 20" Michelin Premier tires at 32 lbs and car only has 11,500 miles.

Over 30mpgs is not common but definitely possible. I bought my 2019 RX450h two years ago and average 40+mpg over the past two years. This is my first hybrid and my third Lexus. I am pushing the limit and experimenting what would be the best mpg for this 450h. So far I am very impressed.
