No way would I pay a dealer that kind of money for that job! Ridiculous.
I'd get this on Ebay for $28 (and has a lifetime warranty)
:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRE-OR-POST-CAT-O2-OXYGEN-SENSOR-AIR-TO-FUEL-RATIO-WITH-LIFETIME-WARRANTY-/161557387518?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ALS460&hash=item259d9218fe&vxp=mtr
Then take the savings and go on a cruise for a week in the Carribean with the money you saved.

Or...if you insist on Lexus OEM, this Denso one is 37 bucks on Ebay:

Just to clarify, it's not the oxygen sensor after all. It's a part fitted only to the Hybrid and it's more of a sensor for the gas temperature. But yeah, to think that sensor could buy a cruise in the Caribbean... Thanks all for your input. Imo those ridiculous price for even the smallest thing is just planned obsolescence. Automaker don't want you to keep your car after the lease, cause they are making more and people need to buy them.

Behold, the elusive $1000 gas temperature sensor in the wild! I wonder if there is some kind of engineering marvel to it to justify it's cost or if it's 100% LS tax.

I feel your pain!!

Like the lumbar support mechanism that costs $1,500 there is no justification except the 1000% markup...

I heard a finance manager at a Lexus dealer say that they can lose money on a car to get your maintence and repair business, this explains it!!

for my 2008 ls 600hl, check engine light came on.
They say that the hydrocarbon switching valve has to be replaced - which means - part # 17410-38252 pipe assy, exhaust price I think was about $5700 just for the part - apparently a part of the exhaust system has to be replaced..
I don't know the code.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Can you find out the codes from the Lexus Tech?

Did you replace your exhaust temperature sensor yourself (the one posted in the picture), or did the dealer replace it for you? I need to have mine replaced and wanted to do it myself. I still have not figure out where it is located in the ls 600hl. Thanks!

I was a noob at the time and let the dealer do it... never again, this is a very easy procedure and the sensor is very easy to access. The sensor is connected to the catalytic converter, see this picture with the 2 needles hanging on the left: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...8568f6938.jpeg

Funny how in a regular car this is a 50 bucks part
Amazon Amazon
While in the ls600 its about a thousand. I think you might be able to rig one of those sensor using the oem harness.
