Check Engine Light came on??
Today I was installing my radar detector. I opted to run the wiring directly to the fuse box to prevent any hassle with my dealer should I have any electrical problems. Anyhow, I used an add-a-fuse and tapped into the radio fuse. I learned that this fuse is always hot as my RD does did not turn off when I powered off the vehicle. I then decided to tap into the "ignition no. 1". As most of you know the vehicle is equipped with low-profile fuses and wouldn't be able to use the factory equipped fuse with the add-a-fuse kit. My thought process is I would try to pair two 5A fuses since most RD use about 2A. I quickly learned this wasn't enough to power on the vehicle so I switched out one of the 5A fuses for a 10A and now the vehicle starts fine and the RD works fine powers on/off with ignition. But...this is where I noticed the "Check Engine" light was on and TRAC OFF is now displayed on my screen and I can't seem to turn it off. Do you think disconnecting the battery might just reset the "check engine" light or should I take the car in to my dealer???
