I just bought a dash cam and would like to hard wire it into the dome light area as it would really hide the wire. Before I break anything is there a easy way to gain access? Besides the eye glass holder I have the buttons for the garage door opener in there too.
Thanks

I have not taken down the overhead console in my RX400h, but I did in my RX300, and it should be similar.Originally Posted by Weighit

RX300 procedure: Open the sunglass holder, remove the felt-pad that is stuck to the top-side of the compartment. Behind the pad should be two screws, remove them. Once those are out the console will rotate down, and the other end of the console has two legs that hold it to the headliner.
Again the removal procedure for the RX400h should be nearly the same.
DeFo, thanks a lot, hate to snap off a very important part without knowing how it 'should' have come apart. Will work on it soon and post if it worked the same.
Thanks again
Thanks again
Well I was able to drop the light fixture and have a look. Everything is so neat up in that area and I didn't see any way to easily tap into a power source. So I think it will be a dealer job and let them wire it up for me.

I wired a radar detector into the wire harness above the dome light. It's not difficult. There is switched power there for the mirror electronics. I can attach a diagram if you want.

I'm having trouble with the service manual software and the latest update to the IE browser that it runs on, and unfortunately I'm unable to get the wiring diagrams right now.

Well thank you for trying. I guess it is back to the dealer to see how many arms and legs they want to get this handled...
