Phone/NAV idiocy
I have 2,000 miles on my 2007 400h, and just noticed this last week.
I was leaving a parking space, and dialed home before backing out. I start to back up, the camera comes on, and then the call was picked up, and the NAV view reverted to the phone activity screen WHILE I WAS BACKING UP.
Somebody at HQ needs to be taken out and shot.

Whoa! chill out...
First of all the camera was designed only to check out if there was any obstacles behind your vehicle, but you still have to turn your head and check your surroundings manually. Second of all, it's a machine you can never count on it to do your work. The car is not gonna drive for you. Third of all, talking on the phone while driving is dangerous enough, so you should be concentrating, not blaming the HQ for their design. If you get in a car accident because you were talking on the phone and blamed it on the HQ for the camera switching off, no one will reimburse you.
So have fun, and drive safe!

Why would you start calling someone on the phone while backing out of a parking space? Why not make and finish the call before backing out? Be safe, there are far too many people talking and driving, as many studies show it's just as bad as drinking and driving and you don't even get a buzz
And the camera is an added safety feature, not a replacement for your eyes.
Sorry for the speech, but I hate the blame game.

I am not going to argue with people who sure PRESUME that 1) I do not use all of my faculties and tools when driving 2) that I do not check using mirrors and turning my head and torso to check for humans and objects when backing up.
I had done all of the above; I was in the process of checking the NAV to see how much clearance was remaining to the bumper behind my car. The NAV cut out the backup screen to go the the phone screen. Period.
Subsequently, a couple of nights ago, I started the car with the NAV screen on the "energy" screen. I (again, after checking visually) backed up, and the NAV changed to the "lawyer" screen WHILE BACKING UP.
It is not me, as dllaser noted above.

camera is just a tool. it is just there for assurance, not there for insurance.
you cannot heavily rely on outside source to drive. if you hit something, you hit something. dont blame it on the tools; tools you use are dead, they cannot tell you when you should stop backing up.
my dad has taught me long ago, the only way to determine when to stop backing up is when you hear a sound.

I'm done here.
