Default Optima battery upgrade

Made this lengthy post explaining everything and I lost it. So long story short, car was acting up for a few years due to a bad battery. Auto dimming mirrors and auto high beams were not working, and lousy gas mileage. I’ll update when I run through a full tank. But I’m expecting it to get better.

Here's a video after the install. Hope it helps!

SC35DA the terminals are reversed from the factory one, but the cables are long enough to reach.

Thanks, but I can buy a Toyota/Lexus battery from the dealer for the same price as that battery you used. It is listing for around $235 to $270. The exact same price as OEM part number 2880028100!

Yeah by all means go OEM if you want a perfect fit. The optima has about 150 more cold cranking amps, but my Panasonic OEM battery lasted 9 years so can’t complain. I did get my optima for much cheaper than lost price but that’s because I have good relationship with parts vendors because of my job.

I just acquired SC35DA from Walmart. Arrived in 2 days. Local Lexus and Toyota dealers have the battery on back order. This Optima 12 volt yellow top battery requires a few minor modifications. Bend existing brackets, cut 1x4” lumber to support it and add 1/4” piece under top clamp. worked fine.. And saved $100. Highly recommend this option for DYI, but be prepared to work in the tiny space available while installing the heavy battery.
