Hey everyone,

I searched the forum first to make sure that I'm not asking a duplicate question but I'm apparently such a n00b that I'm the first to have to ask about such a simple thing.

I have a 4 year old battery in my car (purchased from the Lexus dealership for $107) which has suddenly become very sluggish at starting my car (I suspect there are only a few starts left in it). The weather has just now gotten to the point where it is reaching almost 100F some days so I guess it makes sense.

I've moved since I purchased the last battery and live over 100 miles away from the closest Lexus dealership now, so I'm just going to just replace the battery myself. My question is, is there anything special about the battery that I need to buy or do I just go to the nearest auto parts store and get a battery with the appropriate number of CCAs? Also, the dealership mentioned something about possibly needing to recalibrate my window motors after replacing the battery and that maybe I should use a "battery caddy" while replacing my battery? Any comments on that?

It would be nice to know about any caveats that I should be aware of.

Hi Dan, I recently went through this, surprise your battery only last you 4 yrs. mine was close to 8 yrs. just go to Costco or SAMs club, and pick up the battery they are great battery made by same company just different label. Just disconnect old battery and out new in, it shouldn't affect anything, Good luck

 

Some battery-specific auto shops have a "memory" device they plug into the OBD port to save your radio settings.

Interstate batteries do well in Central Florida.

I too live in central Florida and would also recommend Interstate batteries as I use them for both of my LS400's and have never had a "dead" battery.The Florida heat is a real battery killer so buy a high quality battery and pay attention to the fluid level and you should get at least 5 years from the battery.Good luck.
