Default New HS owner questions

Excited to be a new owner of my new 2010 HS 250H. I had a Prius before and was very bland to the amount if features this car has .The Prius was my first hybrid and was very reliable also and because the Prius getting 52 mpg I decided I wanted a more upscale Hybid, so I decided i came across a HS. I am very impressed with everything this car has to offer and got the ultra premium package with Mark Levinson sound system. Few questions concerning the car: 1, The gas mileage indicates 35 mpg city and 34 Hwy. I am getting 38 to 41 mpg constantly in summer weather. Is this accurate or does the numbers drop during the colder months?
2, There have been a few owners with oil consumption in the 2.4 engines. Is this concerning and something I should be concerned with and does this happen to only all of these engines eventually? 3, Any problems with the navigation system or electronics considering it is has alot to offer?

welcome to our very small community. I have not heard of any oil consumption issues as one of the known problems. I am also a new owner so want to follow this thread. how do you know that you have the levinson sound system?

good luck with it! how many miles? did it have the tranaxle recall?

When I got the car I got the Mark Levinson dispay on my radio and when I checked the VIN it is the highest trim available.

The transaxle was replaced in January and it would have came with new fluid as well .As I read correctly, the fluid is supposed to be changed every 50,000 miles .

I bought the car with 97,000 miles and was able to get all the service records from a local Lexus dealer from the previous owner.

NICE, I definitely dont have that mark on mine, mine is optioned up, but that is probably the one that is missing. I got mine with 58k so pretty pumped its a low mile one. original owner with all records. I got lucky with mine. there is a pic in my new owner thread. seems like there are lots of shy people in the forum. lol

Congrats on the new ride! I've been here 8+ years, and don't recall any HS owner having oil issues, just worries because they heard about other Toyota's with a 2.4 having it. My HS is now over 120k with no oil consumption. Keep in mind our 2.4 is an Atkinson cycle, so may not be directly comparable to other 2.4's in non-hybrids.

I get maybe 36 mpg, and I think in my case it goes up a bit in winter due to change in gasoline and no AC running. MPG is so dependent on driving habits that's it's tough to compare, but I imagine what you're getting is real. not as good as a Prius obviously but you knew the trade off and in terms of extra $$ spent per year on gas it's not that much.

ML stereo is a pretty rare option! I've never heard one, but I understand it's pretty sweet.

My wife enjoyed her 2010 HS (leased 36 months) more than either of the ESh's we've had since.
Tidy size, sliding armrest w/switches at hand, "18 wheels looked massive on it. If you have not
yet found it, resetting the MPG in the odometer window with the steering wheel button will now
show up in the Navigation Info screen as Past Record. Try resetting every season (Spring/Summer...)
and you will have 1 1/2 of MPG data comparing cold and warm performance...warm is better BTW.

I recently just talked to another owner that replaced the transaxle for the recall and he tells me he averages 2 mpg better on average than before. There could be many reasons for it but not sure .
sure.

I find that the ride is much different compared to my old ES 330 which is a more soft floaty feeling where the HS is more of a European feel to it which I like alot more. The CT 250h which is pretty much a luxury Prius has too much of a harch ride I didn't like. So it seems like the best balance for ride quality .

Lexus calls it "Seal, Cool Air Intake Duct" Part Number 5329575010 or 5329575020

I just bought my 2010 Premium 2 months ago and I love it. It only has 52,000 miles and is pristine.

Lucky you!
There was a recall for all 2010 HS250h models to get a free replacement transmission. Check (call Lexus or your local dealer with your VIN) to see if it was done and if not, go get the replacement transmission before it is too late!

I checked on Lexus Drivers and it was already done in 2016. It was actually first owned in Beverly Hills, and then it was sold as a certified pre owned to a Lexus dealer employee in San Francisco, so maintenance was highly detailed and thourough. I also paid a little more and got it at CarMax with a 5 year warranty just in case.

Default Extra warranty

Hello, if you felt like sending a person message versus putting the figure here, please feel free... But I was wondering how much the CARMAX 5 year warranty cost?

I ended up paying about 1500 for the warranty
