Has anyone successfully installed a 360 "Panoramic" Parking Camera? I just purchased a brand new, 2021 Lexus Premium GX 460 and unfortunately the 360 camera is only included in the Luxury package.

I have seen and read of people installing their own DIY Surround Parking cameras systems, but I have a few questions:

- Can the custom cameras be displayed on the stock Infotainment screen?
- Is it worth the hassle?
- Can you do it for around ~$2,000?

the only person on this board who has done anything close to what you're asking about posted above you.

 

All of those units are similar, many are using the same original components just different badging and different brand names.

 

I installed this in my 2014 GX. I have an aftermarket stereo though so I can't comment on the experience using it with the stock stereo.

To be honest I wish the camera quality was better, its still pretty good but if I was going to do it again I would buy a more expensive unit if there is one out there. I installed it my self, took about 11-12 hours of my day, the most challenging part was doing the wiring from the mirrors. My backup camera before this was also aftermarket and definitely better quality. It is useful doing parallel parking and definitely a "cool" factor. Its always recording when the car is turned on so that's also nice for insurance purposes if you ever get in an accident.
Mine is setup to always show when the car is in reverse (luckily the aftermarket stereo allows you to turn off the guidelines so it only shows one guideline) and I can also view the cameras at any through an app on my aftermarket stereo.

 

Did Beatsonic fix the issue where the front camera becomes disabled if the battery is disconnected, requiring you to pull the dash to get it to work again? That was a deal breaker for me.

 

It hasn’t as far as I know. I have installed a reset switch under the dash, so far I only need to reset once when I replaced battery. The switch purpose is to by pass the beatsonic switch and send video signal to EUC. It is not really the beatsonic issue rather the Park Assist EUC. When EUC resets from power lose, if there is no reverse camera video signal detected, it will not trigger a switch signal to display as the system “assumed” there is no backup camera available. As soon as a video signal has been supplied, the EUC status and trigger is restored.

 

Not sure if it makes a difference but will either method from hzhoa or the amazon one work with an earlier 2010 GX460. I know the beatsonic does not work pre 2014. Sorry if this has been asked before but could not find the answer with search.

 

All of those will work with 2010 GX. The only thing that you need to modify with Beatsonic switch component would be re-mapping the reverse video signal, reverse trigger signal from the OEM head unit harness. Since the Beatsonic only make the plug and play harnesses for 2014+ GX, and prior years GX has different OEM head unit and harness. However, the concept and signal wiring are all the same for it to be functioning.
