Lightbulb HOW TO: Disable #TPMS dash light (TPMS Delete)

Hello all,
Is there a way to disable TPMS? I find it a bit of a nuisance if I swap wheels or air down. I remember reading somewhere that the GX470 just needed a ground wire to one of the wires to the TPMS module to "trick" the module. Thanks in advance!

I don’t recall anyone has done it for the gx460 yet.

if you really want them out then may be remove all 5, put a big clamp on them and throw them in the back.

I found this on the 4runner forums...not sure if it'll work on the GX though:

I was thinking of taking the instrument cluster out and removing the light.

Not sure if this has been tried or possible...

You will probably need to use a piece of black electrical tape to suppress the TPMS light as soldered on.

Never seen that option and frankly with the late '90s tread act not surprised Techstream does not include a way to disable.

Personally ....I like the data it can give me via 3rd party options for PSI and temp but that is just me and understand others have other priorities. TPMS sensors are far from expensive these days.

As Acrad said, the TREAD Act mandated TPMS and made it illegal for a shop, mechanic or other entity to sell a device to deactivate - or to deactivate - a safety device.

Accordingly, you're not going to find much except DIY workarounds that mostly don't work.

I want to rid myself of the nanny since I check pressures at least once a week.

Also a cost thing, for us anyway. I do not want to bring the truck in to get the sensors switched around for $$$ AND risk getting my Six Shooters all marred up AND spend a couple of hours in a waiting room with 7 month old golf magazines.

A little paranoid, I know this

If the light is soldered in I’ll look into switching the sensors from the stock wheels myself. How hard can it be??!

I've never paid to reprogram between sets. I do it at home with Techstream.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...ream-tpms.html

Also able to read all of my tire values with OBD Fusion/Link so I can read all tires plus spare at one quick glance.

I need to look into Techstream. Seems like a lot of good can be done with this tool. Thanks!

TPWS ECU/Receiver is located in the headliner at rear.

For those who are interested, I referenced the hack from the 470 guys/gals here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...sensors-7.html
So I started digging and found a module in the headliner, next to the dome light in the rear. The module is held on with a 10mm bolt and says Receiver Assy on the front. The connector only has 3 wires coming out of it, but the 470 and 4runners has 6. I checked under the glovebox, but didn't find any module there. Not sure if there is another module for the ECU hidden somewhere else. Looks like I have more digging to do.
