Default TRAC OFF, Check Engine

Welp, on the way to drop my kids off at school, I noticed the throttle was very sluggish. Had to mash it to the floor to get it going.

Then, the TRAC OFF light and CHECK ENGINE light came on.

I parked, walked the kids in and then came back out to the car. Lights are still on, but the throttle seems to be responsive now.

A brief internet search turns up dozens of possible causes, none of which seem to be applicable to my situation.

2016 GX lux, 27,000 miles, and I JUST had it serviced at the dealer 45 days ago.

Any ideas?

still under warranty right? in my area, the dealer will come pick it up for warranty work and drop it off again when it's done.

If you do not have 4LO lights flashing, then it is most likely the EGR Valve failure. I just had my experience of that last month.

EGR Valve is covered under normal manufacture warranty (not the secondary air injection extended warranty). But based on your model year and mileage on the clock, your manufacture new car warranty will still cover that.

I have the platinum service agreement good through 2022 as well. Should be covered.

Is there anything specific I should say to get them to come pick it up? I might just wait until tomorrow when they have a loaner.

No. Dealer will scan the code to determine the issue, It is likely to return the code of P006A.

OK. So.... based on a long shot comment I found during my search, I decided to check my gas cap. It was loose, and I did just get gas the last time I drove it. I unscrewed it completely, and then tightened it to first click.

Still had the check engine light on when I drove to pick up dinner.

However, when I drove home, the light was off.

It's been off ever since.

Coincidence? I have no idea. I'll check codes tomorrow.

I chalked this up as user errors....and glad it to be.

Man, the GX with many issues scare me now. How many people with 2014+ have the problem with the secondary air pump?

Turns out it was a loose connection on my pedal commander.

I can't remember the exact error code, but it was something about the throttle sensors not matching. I checked the connection, and sure enough...
