Default Upcoming Lexus Enform update notification

Just got an email from Lexus to inform that on or about Nov. 18, 2018 will have a major multimedia update for the Lexus Enform. Upon update completion, Pandora, etc. will no longer be supported. So, only USB or BT audio can be used for those online stream services. I have been using Pandora through Enform almost daily, I guess will miss the integrated on screen control which is a nice feature. Not sure what’s value left for having the Enform after that.

Interesting - have not received that email yet. I've used Pandora occasionally along with IHeartRadio. Last time I tried about a week ago it wouldn't even work correctly - quick look at reviews suggest that others are having the same issue. Overall I find the Enform app to be quite cumbersome and not well developed.

Have you tried streaming Pandora over bluetooth? I tried a while back on my RX and that worked except volume was a bit lower. I don't recall if any of the media information came across or not.

That's unfortunate... I use Pandora all the time... from my Rokus to all of my cars. Only my little CX-5 has it built into the Infotainment. I stream Pandora in my '12 via BT and works fine on mine.

Enform is the reason I almost didn't get another Lexus after the RC F. I've had a lot of vehicles and it's possibly the worst auto infotainment system on the market. This "update" appears to just remove services that they don't have license to use (or don't want to pay to license) any longer.

Lexus has always been very behind when it comes to technology adoption - especially for infotainment. My 2007 GS 350 that I traded in still had a cassette deck. When I purchased it in 2006 I don't think there was anywhere for me to even purchase cassette tapes.

For the life of me I don't understand why they don't take a page from manufacturers like Tesla and use that infotainment area as a differentiator against the competition as well.

Got it and tried Pandora BT, works fine, faster than Enform loading with no annoying "must have Enform running and signed in on your device" nonsense.

I assume media song info shows up as well on '14+ models too like '10-'13?

They do, but if you want to skip, you must hit it on your phone, actually not sure. Maybe I can hit the forward button on the steering wheel and dash? Anyone know, well I'll see tomorrow.

I can't speak for Android device...although I could test it out if needed... have them but not for normal end uses. My normal carry phone is an old iPhone 6S (A1688).

Enform is a joke. I've searched this forum far and wide and nobody has mentioned the obvious yet: that Lexus is charging you to track your every move in the car. I dare anyone to read the Privacy Agreement. It's downright scary. The services should be free since they are monetizing you, the customer.

If you can sleep at night knowing your car is streaming every movement of the driver and click of the multimedia interface, then so be it. For me, it's terrifying. Wait until they try to reject a warranty claim under the pretense that you're "driving the car too hard".

I saw this. But I've yet to see anyone actually put it together... that you're *paying* to be tracked.

Part of the tracking is necessary to provide services for Safety Connect.

I understand your concerns though.
