#Vibration through steering wheel when under load?
Anyone else experience a bit of a vibration through the steering wheel when the engine is under load? Our 2023 GX460 Luxury has around 2,000 miles on it and I'm noticing that when accelerating mildly - or going up a hill - that there's a vibration (or like a buzzing feeling) coming through the steering wheel. Not so much if the engine isn't under load but once it is this happens. Is this normal - or should I have our dealer look at it when I take it in for the 5k mile service? Not so bad as to make it unbearable - just slightly concerning as our 2016 Highlander and 2018 GMC Sierra do not exhibit this at all.
Thanks for the reply. We just had our KDSS lean fix done and had a loaner 23 Premium Plus GX460 for a couple days and I swear it didn’t do it like ours does. It’s kinda frustrating for a $76,000 vehicle.
These V8’s seem to hit a resonant frequency at around 1,800-2,000 RPMs. See if that is where you notice the “buzzing” when accelerating or under load. Once beyond that rpm when accelerating it will diminish. Or coasting at a constant speed minimal load at those rpm’s it is less noticeable.
My 2021 was dead smooth. My 2023 drifts to the left and vibrates in the steering column, seats and floor nonstop.
So, by nature, this is a body on frame truck will have some different vibes & sensations than a car based crossover, but should not have vibrations that feel weird regardless. A lot have bad tires & alignment issues from day one, but that’s what a warranty is for.
Schedule a service visit, take an advisor or foreman for a ride, and explain & take a loaner. Not normal and should not be accepted, as most GX’s are dead smooth, but not all.
My ongoing dealer after 2 visits & full road force rebalances has tried, but it wasn’t until going to a new dealer today where a new advisor immediately “your steering wheel is to the left and my feet are shaking” while driving mine. So we’re getting somewhere.
Schedule. Show them in detail. Take a loaner, and carry on.

I've had the master tech take my truck for several drives, and they say they can't feel it... I've also taken a couple other GX's for drives as loaners, and I do not recall feeling the same wheel shimmy with those, mine is a 2023 the one's I've driven were 2022, 2019, and a 2018.. The next closest dealer is down in Mass, so maybe I need to head down that way and give it a go.
The 2nd dealer has been better so far, and today the receipt shows road force balanced again "but were within spec" and confirmed the steering wheel was cocked to the left, so alignment and "adjusted tie rods". Haven't picked it up yet, so we'll see. Already have an ongoing case with Lexus, so we'll see what the result of 3rd visit at 2nd dealer is.
can get an accelerometer phone app, then can have quantified results to show.
can also take a different vehicle on the same route and calculate the delta.
then it doesnt matter what they 'feel', the numbers are there.

The issue isn't if the tech or service writer can feel it,(sure that matters), it's if the mechanic can remedy it. I can't count the number of times an issue comes up with some model and it's been in multiple times but can't be remedied. By all means bring it in.

it sounds like a C/V joint going bad?
I would definitely have it looked at, ASAP.
Purchased ours from herb chambers in hingham ma. The one we test drove had 9,000 miles it did not shake or vibrate upon acceleration. There is a tsb on the 2022 gx460 l-sb-0008-23 "thump/bump when accelerating from or deceleration" not sure if the same thing. I have not contacted dealer yet for my issue, we all know they've never seen it before. This is not normal any help would be appreciated
