Default TPMS Issue

Just had new TPMSs put in. The light on the dash went out for a bit and came back on. Not flashing but the solid "low air". All the sensors are reading as good. All tires have the proper pressure. Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks!!

Mike

Did you check the spare? The GX has five sensors.

Also - check the position of the tire sensor switch under the steering wheel. The GX supports 2 sets of sensors, so you can switch between summer & winter tires without reprogramming them.

+1 on the spare tire ... depending on wheel style, may need to be dropped to check the pressure ... a PITA ... which is why I fill to 40 PSI so it takes close to forever for the pressure to drop below the TPMS threshold.

Similar issue fixed with an easy hack. Remove the glove box and the panel beneath it ( one screw). Pull up on the door sill. Remove the plastic nut near the kick panel in the foot well and remove that kick panel. The panel under the glove box has your TPMS sensor box located there. Cut the blue wire and ground it out on the nut by your amp on the removed kick panel. You’ll never have a TPMS light ever again. Most of of have lived in a world pre TPMS sensor. I’m a ****ty Tyler but here’s a video link. Cheers.

Spare is good. They made sure they put air in it. The switch is in the right position. I am giving thought to grounding the wire. I've had nothing but problems with these foolish things.

It’s 10f out but I braved it. All 5 tires are above 35psi cold. Silly question? Do I have to drive it for a bit? Like when you clear trouble codes to get the system to run a test?

If you want to change wheels and not deal with the sensors you could put all 5 sensors on the spare. Would need to remove the rim and drill 4 more holes for the stems. Then keep 35 psi in the spare. Can change out two sets of tires and never worry about it and keep the sensor system working properly

I drove into work today about 50 mins. Light is still on. Got coffee and started the car. Now it’s blinking then going solid indicating a bad sensor. All 5 sensors have been installed on the last few months. At this point I’ve had it with the foolish things. Just going to ground out the ECU.

Put this misery behind you- disable the light. The DIY posted above will not work on your 07. I posted up a step by step DIY for 07 few years ago. Fairly easy...when it's not 10F outside

Check out my post #76 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...sensors-6.html

Probably one of your sensors went bad. When I have filled my tires up in the past the light goes off within a few blocks in the neighborhood or a minute of driving.

Already done!!! Only issue I had was the ground. It wouldn’t ground. So o used my tester. Connected it to the + battery. Nothing would get the light on the tester to come on. So for that he’ll of it I tried grounding the tester on parts in the engine compartment. Still nothing. So I put the tester on the - battery. Touched various parts agai . Light comes on. Now I’ve got a + touching something. $ signs are flashing before my eyes thinking of what it’s going to cost to track this down. Back to the TPMS. I found that the little led light under the panel had a good ground. Used that. Light is out. Took the battery to look at the cables. Nothing stuck out as being frayed. I pretty much bent the harness away from anything. Best I could do at the moment. Put the battery back in. Re-tested the body. The body is now a ground again!!! I should of known better with it going to be easy
