Default Hood Struts/Shocks Which Ones ?

Went out in the cold and lifted my hood, found the struts , or lift assist shocks (not sure what the actual name for these are) aren't holding the hood up very well - had to shove it up and hold it several times. Wondering if anybody has had to replace theirs and what they used and price. I stopped by an O'Rileys and they say they'd have to order and they'd be like $29 each. Was thinking I'd check at a NAPA and see what they have also, but if anyone has some experience maybe ya can lead me in a better direction - THANKS

Did some checking on the internet and between Ebay and Amazon I've found a bunch of possible choices and price ranges. Does anyone have some real world experience with any of these replacements ? Ease of installation ? service life ?

I can't remember the brand, but do a search on here. Several folks were pleased with some they got off Amazon

well, seeing as how I haven't got any real earth shattering direction from any one on here I ordered a set from Ebay and I''ve got my fingers crossed that they'll workout and bolt up easily. I'll let ya know if it paid off when they get here

There's a part number on your old ones - just order the same ones off Amazon.

There is a thread on there talking about this. I know, because I need mine replaced. So I searched about a week ago and found the info. All you gotta do is search to find "real earth shattering direction".

Took me a long 45 seconds to find, but here you go: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...placments.html

The struts or lift supports came today, and I just got done installing them. They were an easy install (10 minutes) and they seem to wok just fine. The final test will be to see how long they last. The ones I got were from a place called the Lift Support Depot in California and they were $37 for the pair on Ebay

I installed some Lift Support Depot's as well in my GX about a week ago, great so far and a lifetime warranty helps!
