Default Red light with key logo blinking on dash

Hi fellow GX owners, my 08 has this blinking red light with key logo on my dash, when I lock it through the key, it stays on and does not blink.
No problem with starting, steering wheel, and keys has new batteries.

Please give me some inputs before I take it to the dealer.

Thanks! Much appreciated!

Mark

Have to double check, let's you know alarm is set, if you lock with key, not sure, but maybe alarm does not set.

Your immobilizer was flashed and it is still in a programming mode. To close it just turn the key on/off quickly for about 10 times until the light stop blinking. Just make sure to insert each key you have in the ignition for few seconds. The one with the gray head(valet key) must be last. If you have any questions just PM me.

Bodik...it is 10 Seconds on the wait period ( i am sure that's a typo).

Blustone...check the Owners Manual, it has the method done step by step.

TO CLARIFY, since no one likes to explain things CLEARLY on this site:

If the little red car with the key on it (aka security indicator) is flashing even AFTER you start the vehicle and stays on while driving, that means your vehicle is still in "programming mode" for keys.

To exit the vehicle from programming mode (i.e. stop it from flashing), you must:

Insert a recognized key. Rotate the key from the "off" to "on" position FIVE (5) times within TEN (10) seconds. The security indicator light (lil red car) should turn off after last turn.

Go ahead and start 'er up... the red light should not longer be blinking.

Thanks for this clear explanation. But what if you have a keyless entry? I have a button to start my car, don't need to inset a key

The people that installed your remote start likely taped/zip-tied a key module near the ignition switch so that it was in range of the immobilizer receiver.
