Oil pump replacement?
I have some leaks around the edges of the oil pump. Dealer is saying that it's 15 hours of labor, and that I'd want to (re)do the timing belt & water pump since they'd have to be removed for access.
It is not the oil filter bracket gasket (a common source of leaks on older motors). But they would also replace that while they're there.
At the moment its more than a seep, less than a drip. My concern is that it is providing sufficient oil flow and pressure, not the leak itself - you obviously want to keep internal parts lubricated.
Apparently on the non-VVTi motors there is not an oil pressure sender where you can read the values via Techstream - just an old-school oil pressure switch that turns on the dash light when it suddenly drops 😨
Has anyone else had this?
Thanks.

I found a youtube video of the process, and while 15 hours is crazy high, you have to remove both oil pans (the upper oil pan seals against the bottom edge of the pump).
It might be time to start shopping for a new GX (new to me), as the repair is about half the book value of my 470.
In the meantime I'll keep an eye on it. And maybe buy a drip pan for the garage.

That's a tough pill to swallow on a truck of this age, but if you've got a rust free one, it's service life is not up.
If you got another GX, would it be another 470, or would you be into the 2nd gens?

Not sure. The 470 was just so right. The 460 is safer and better but only came with a 3rd row that takes away room.
The 550 is too much money to get the equivalent of what I have today.

We've had the wife's '15 GX460 for about 4 years now, and it's been great, but I still prefer driving my 470 personally.
The 460 is more car-like, the engine makes power at higher revs, and it feels like there's less torque down low, fuel economy is very similar. Both are very good vehicles, so there's no wrong answers.
