I just picked up my new 04GX and the tire pressure monitor keeps blinking. The manual says its a malfunction. Anyone else experience this?
Possible causes could be cold temperature, under-inflated tyres, or sensors need recalibration. I've experienced all of these things with my SC and my GX.

Don't panic just yet! The '04 has a button to toggle between sets of tires. If for some reason the button is in the wrong position, the monitoring system is trying to communicate with a set of tires that is not on the truck, and that could be the reason for the warning. If you're sitting on the driver's seat, look for this button below the steering column and to the right. Of course, before you do all this, make sure that your tires are not underinflated, though I guess this would make the light steady, not blink...
thanks angelslex, that info did infact solve the problem!
I checked this as well, and now the light is back off again... And the position it is in now, is the "Main" position that the owners manual says it should be, from the factory... So, the question remains, how did it get changed? I was driving along down a dirt road when the light came on... I never touched the button, nor was anyone else in the car... yet, somehow, the button became depressed... I can't imagine I hit it with my knee or something like that... Oh well, no more flashing, that's the main thing!

William, that means your really are running your tires too low for the temp.
In cold, tire air pressure goes down.
I think the system triggers at 27 or 28 psi. With your tires cold, cold (meaning haven't driven, and the ambient temp around your tires is as cold as what you drive in) you should check and set the tire pressure.
Of course, if after that you immediately drove to South FL, then you would probably have to let some out.

Or use 100% nitrogen in your tires all the time (like in aircraft and race car tires) so the pressure doesn't change much with temperature.
My light started blinking about half an hour into our roadtrip last Thursday. DH inflated the tires to the proper pressure, but the light kept blinking. I searched the boards today and found the thread about the switch underneath the steering column. I hit the button and it stopped blinking.
So, here's my question .... what is the purpose of that switch? If I hit it and that stops the light from blinking, why would we ever turn it on in the first place? In what situation would we ever want that light to be blinking all the time? (Does that make sense?)

The purpose of that switch is so that you can have 2 sets of wheels/tires registered with the car.
If you have a snow set or summer set, you can register them with the 2nd position of the button. I might be wrong on this, so someone correct me if I am.
