Default multiple system malfunctions after "spirited" driving

I made this comment in another thread, but I'm realizing it needs it's own thread. Background: I just bought a '17 GS F last month, so I haven't had too many chances to unleash the beast. It was a rainy weekend, so I thought it would be good to have fun breaking the tires loose on the slippery roads. I found an empty parking lot, put the car in Sport+ & Track mode, and then disabled traction control (via button).

I did a little drifting and then a couple of doughnuts. Nothing too crazy, right. But on that 2nd doughnut, suddenly the dash lit up with a bunch of warning messages. I don't remember exactly because it's been over a week, but it was something like: Collision system malfunction , park assist off-line, lane keep assist offline, and something about the TVD too. And it advised me to "contact my dealer". It worried me so much! I couldn't understand how a track-ready car such as GS F would crap out just after a 2 doughnuts... on a wet pavement!

So I drove it home gently. And then I turned the car off and back on. I was hoping it would clear the issue, kinda like a reboot. Welp, nope; every warning was still there. So then I went into the Setup menu on the Navi screen and I looked for Alerts. I found them, and then deleted them. That worked!.. No more warnings on the dash or message to visit my dealer.

So questions for the community: Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? Did I do something wrong / what can I do to prevent this? Do I have a valid issue that needs to be investigated?
I would love to unleash the beast again, and it seems like there was no harm done, but gosh, it would be embarrassing if it happened again with a buddy in the car.

Im sure someone is going to ask, but is the battery new or old?
Thats weird that it did that, but glad you were able to clear them.

The previous owner said he replaced the battery back July/August. So practically new.

You could also try disconnecting the battery for about 30 mins and reconnecting it. This kind of reboots the systems it seems. Might not be a bad idea to mention it next time its in for service at the dealership so they can keep an eye out for anything that looks out of sorts.

To which point are you responding to? …On how to clear the alarm messages (which has been done) or to prevent them from ever showing up again

These cars absolutely hate donuts or anything that makes the car think that it is out of control. Torque vectoring differentials and all the nannies on the car are designed to try and maximize control and when you do that type of stuff it freaks the systems out.

If you do the pedal dance it should eliminate all of the computers from going crazy if you do it again.

oh no!
the previous owner had an issue with the TVD…he had it replaced with a 2nd hand unit, in addition to the dealer resetting the ECU.

and that’s actually a good tip about the pedal dance. I just found out about that. I’ll def do that next time. Thank you!

Funny story...I did the same this past weekend and half a donut resulted in the dash lighting up with all sorts of warnings.
To be specific, I was in Sport+ mode and had turned nannies off (as much as I could) with a long press of the traction button (did not do pedal dance). The warning lights I saw were for ABS, traction control, headlamps, pre-collision system, lane keep assist etc. I turned off the car and returned 30 minutes later after running some errands and every thing was back to normal thankfully.

My suspicion was the same as pointed out above; the car's various system did not like losing control and freaked the hell out. I suspect the pedal dance would solve these issues. I have drifted in Sport+ mode with traction off before and wondered why people thought the pedal dance was necessary. I know the pedal dance completely shuts off the nannies instead of taming them but perhaps also prevents the warnings. Have fun and be safe!
