Pre-collision system malfunction
I have a 2016 GS F. Has anyone come across the pre-collision system malfunctioning after driving for a while on the highway? Good weather conditions so it's not snow blocking a camera. Once that fails then the headlight system malfunctions, the lane departure alert malfunctions, and then the forward camera system becomes unavailable. It all resets and is fine after restarting the car.
funny that you brought this up. I just had this happen to me this past weekend.
Bear in mind, I just bought this '17 last month, so I haven't had to many chances to unleash the beast. It was a rainy weekend, so I went to an empty parking lot with the intent to have some fun.
I put it in Sport+ and Track mode, and then disabled traction control (via button).
I did a little drifting and then a couple of doughnuts. And then suddenly I got a ton of warning messages. I don't remember exactly, but it was similar to what you described. ...Collision system malfunction , park assist off-line, lane keep assist offline, and something about the TVD too. And it advised me to "contact my dealer". It worried me so much! I couldn't understand how a track-ready car such as GS F would crap out after a 2 doughnuts on a wet parking lot.
So I drove it home gently. And then I turned the car off and back on. I was hoping it would clear the issue, kinda like a reboot. Welp, nope; every warning still there. And then I went into the Setup menu on the Navi screen and looked for Alerts. Found them, and then deleted them. It worked! No more warnings on the dash.
Did you do any spirited driving? Look in the Alerts and see if you can review/delete.

What alerts did you turn off?
Suddenly my PCS keeps turning back on no matter how many times I turn it off, it's driving me crazy.
I've watched videos and it says to keep your car and sensors clean and I wash my car regularly. You should see it going off in the car wash.
Thanks!

Hmm, I had my battery checked a few weeks ago because I was told I needed a new one when I had my oil checked. I wanted a different battery though and when I went to get it, they said they'd check it first for me and said my battery was still good so I didn't get a new one. I was disappointed because I thought the mechanic I trusted lied to me about needing a new battery.
Do you think it could have failed a test at one place and passed at another one? Except for my latest problem, it hasn't had any problems starting at all and I'm in Chicago.
Thanks for your help.

Dude, I specifically told my dealer to replace my battery, they didn't and claimed they checked it and it was fine.
When I went to collect it, the car wouldn't start. I was furious.
They replaced my battery free of charge as compensation for my time and efforts going back and forth.

Well, I stopped at another place and had them check the battery and they said it was good too, but if I could find a place to check it with a load, that would be better. I called the mechanic who first told me it needed to be replaced and told him I went to get a battery, but they told me it was good so I checked it at another place and they did too. I asked if they checked it with a load and he said to bring it in and he'd check it again.
He wheeled out a piece of equipment to do it and hooked it up and said it was definitely weak and should have been replaced years ago because it's the original battery. I told him that would have been a mistake because it has been a great battey with no problems for all of these years.
He quickly told me what it was supposed to say, but I had no idea what any of it meant and I don't think he was thrilled I was back so I didn't push for him to explain it to me.
I got a new, top of the line, battery today, turned the PCS off again, and by the time I got home and was pulling into the garage, it was back on again and going off as I was pulling into the garage, grrr.
Any other ideas? Thanks

Hmm, just give it a little time.
What you are going through is exactly what I went through a few months ago. From car symptoms to dealer/mechanic claims. Exactly.
Was and am still hoping my solution is yours, too.
By the way, when they replaced your battery, did they do the full programming procedure as per Lexus protocols. The dealer took about an hour to get my new battery in, that's why I was furious because that was downtime for me away from work.

No, I never heard of that? He just took the old one out and put the new one in, but did use a Memory Saver that he attached inaide my car so I wouldn't lose my radio settings, etc.
You've given me hope again, I'll go Google Lexus protocols and see what he was supposed to do. 🤔
Thanks.

Drive straight ahead at 22 mph (or more) for 5 seconds. That's the initialization for the steering zero point. There isn't really anything else unless you have the trunk open when you remove power.
Oh geez, so if I'm reading this correctly, you're telling me to drive the car at 22 mph for 5 seconds and not to break or put it in park, but just to push the button to turn the car off?
Ok, I guess you're only old when you're afraid to try something new.
How does the car react when you do that so I know what to expect? I wish you were in IL.
Thanks.

What happens when you just suddenly turn a car off like that? Does it jerk, etc? I'm definitely not the racer here.
To me, this sounds like you're callibrating the accuracy of it, but that's not my problem.
I just want to keep the PCS off, but it keeps coming back on, no matter how many times I turn it off. It's the setting I'm having the problem with.
Thanks again.

No, I seriously doubt they expect the tech to shut the car off like that. I'm pretty confident all you need to do for this exercise is drive straight for 5 seconds and shut down normally.

The dealer just did the same to me.I even told then I had $400 on me to spend. They said it was perfectly fine.Ive had a 16 Gs 350 f sport awd,I bought used 4 years ago this mo...03/21..50K miles..And they say my battery and brakes are fine. And i have 2 lights on !? ABS amd Collision Malfunction. I came on here to see about replacing a ABS sensor.I made a post today, about my dashboard lights, because 2 weeks ago,6 or 7 were on,then i got a new air filter ,and they completely went off for 2 solid weeks, about 300-400 miles, then 2 days ago,the ABS and Collision light.Lexus and Auto Zone said it threw NO codes. I did a battery hard reset today and yesterday, and no change. This is very stressful when a Lexus dealership can't even diagnose it.
