Default Thoughts about upgrading from GS to GSF

Hello everyone,

I was recently involved in a wreck on my 15 GS 350 and all indications seems as though it’ll be totaled. I’ve always thought about getting a GSF and this opportunity seems the right moment to do so. Any thoughts on what I should look out for while searching? Such as high mileage or a specific GSF year. I know they’re only from years 16-20’ but I’m concerned with high mileage with multiple owners

You are going to get a lot of good opinions / info from the more knowledgable guys on here. Based on my experience:
1) The 2URGSE is pretty stout. Most of the higher mileage cars are around 50k-80k miles. Given that these engines can easily hit 200k miles if maintained properly, I wouldn't worry about what is currently on the market. I hit 65k miles this month and no issues at all. Solid as ever.
2) Exception to point 1)...personally, I would not buy a GSF which was used as a Lexus Performance Driving School car. Many disagree (and they are probably right) however I didn't want a car that was tracked regardless of mileage. Just personal preference.
3) A lot, and I mean A LOT, of the 2016/2017 cars are thrashed on the interiors. If you find that perfect car but the interior turns you off, just know that the grass isn't greener most of the time on other 2016/2017 GSFs.
4) Random point here - before I bought my GSF, my original intent was to buy an ISF. The only reason I bought my GSF was because you could find some steals back in 2017/2018. If I was in the market today, I'd probably look at ISFs for a good deal.

Best of luck buying a car in today's market.

This man speaks the truth. There are a few nice ones in the classified section here as well.

Default Go for it!

The 2UR is a solid motor that just keeps on rolling. It almost feels like it gets better with age actually. Honestly when I was looking for one. I was specifically looking for a low mileage one, and bought one with under 30k miles. But honestly. After putting over 10k miles on it in under seven months. It feels like it doesn’t even matter if the car has high miles. Long as oil changes are done on time and the car has been somewhat maintained, at the end of the day it’s a Lexus and it’s built to last. I’ve had no issues and have preventatively done diff service and brake fluid flush. I’d say go for one if you think the price is right. And don’t look back

@NinjaNap Great information! I appreciate you taking the time to detail out your experience and recommendations. Certainly going to take that into consideration.

@kahsan4930 Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the market is not favorable now but I’ll see what makes sense.

After having 3 GS350 F sports I made the switch. I knew I always wanted one and have zero regrets. I chose to pounce early summer of 20' when everyone thought the world was coming to an end. Hence I got a killer deal. I agree w not wanting a car that was tracked but I also wouldn't be concerned w higher mileage. Take advantage of the lexus drivers page online. You can run vin#'s there and get a breakdown on all the services performed via Lexus.
