Default Thoughts on Headers with/without Midpipe

I just got some PPE headers installed in my GS F with the stock exhaust. I'm looking at the apex midpipe (resonated) and trying to decide if I should buy it and tune the car with the midpipe or just stick to the stock exhaust. Does anyone know how much power is restricted by keeping the stock midpipe with secondary cats compared to the apexi midpipe without cats? Is it a lot or just a few hp?

On another note, does anyone know how much the sound would change with the resonated apexi midpipe? (I'm trying to keep the car pretty quiet and hoping the resonated midpipe sounds close to stock)

Adding a resonated midpipe won't be too loud with stock axle back. Non resonated will be a lot louder.

We have them in stock if interested.

You definitely want to do a mid pipe. I’d also recommend the Apexi resonated mid pipe or PPE resonated Mid pipe.

How much louder than stock would the PPE resonated mid pipes be? I also saw they have them with cats. Would it still benefit the headers to get catted PPE resonated mid pipes?

I personally am concerned with installing mid-pipes ( x-pipes or whatever they refer to them) because from experience, they cause rasp.

I have the resonated PPE Midpipe with the GESI High Flow cats (EPA Approved) and the car is actually more quiet than stock, however, the exhaust tone changed. I like it more. I did the resonated and catted as I also planned on headers too down the road, but I may wait a bit on that. Not raspy at all, but the pitch is different probably due to the midpipe crossover design and the different resonators. I think with their headers., this midpipe and the stock exhaust may be perfect for you.

I recently purchased the GT Haus Musa Titanium midpipe for my car and will be replacing the PPE one. I don't know your timeframe, but I'd be happy to lend it to you (you pay shipping of course so you can try it out if you want. I probably won't have the GT Haus installed until March-APril as it's still cold here in Indiana.

Mega, are these the Equal length PPE headers? Super curious about a sound clip if you have anything up on youtube.

I'd like to share my personal opinion if I may:
I think the Novel headers with stock midpipes and Tanabe axle backs sound absolutely exotic.

I thought I read on the ISF forums that headers paired with stock midpipe and aftermarket axleback was best for adding back-pressure and creating more torque, any truth to that?

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard about engine tuning.

I would venture out and say that performance gains are marginal if you compare them to financial investments.

Yah, but it sounds so nice 🤣 I have the PPE UEL headers and the APEX’i catback exhaust (resonated). It rumbles so good 😬 I do sometimes wish it was slightl6 louder, so I’ve thought about swapping to the non-resonated APEX’i mid, but I wouldn’t want to sacrifice the rumble for rasp.
